Anyone been on one of these airfield track days?????
I'm getting very keen to go now I've had the Griff for 5 months and Elvington is fairly near to where I live. Presume I need to buy a helmet and convince my insurers, it would obviously be more enjoyable to go with another car from the TVR fold.....

Yep, on Aug 9th with bookatrack.

Not in a TVR though, but in a hired 205GTI

Looks like a good track for novices (like me).....only 4 weeks away now

Please be aware that the track can be very dirty due to the wind blowing across open fields. Ruined the front of my Tiv last yeat there with stone chips after just the morning session.

Did a track day there today in the Chim, organised through easytrack. Was a blast, mixing it up with caterfields, lotuses and a Volvo estate!

Stone chips aplenty though, car needs front end respray already so I wasn't too fussed.

OK, just uploaded some video of the track day. Shows me trying to catch an S2000 and over doing it. Clip is about 9 megs so broadband advised. Clip.mpeg

I second that. New headlights and front end respray. - Made it an expensive day.

I was at the Elvington track day last Saturday, great fun and reasonably safe as the run-offs at Elvington are huge.

I struggled a bit with heavy steering vibration in the later part of the day, jacked the car up to have a look on Sunday and found about three mm of play in one of my track rod ends....

If you are going on a track day then Elvington must be one of the safest places to start.
