Steering Rack

Does anyone know what car the steering rack is off on a gto-3 please. Guess what noble want £1150+VAT for theres how they justify that sort of cost is beyond me.

Maybe but my daughter was quoted nearly £800 by a Fraud main dealer for a steering rack for her Ka

Looking down this route at the moment just spoke to gary at crazy horses, very helpfull indeed, he had a steering rack in stock and has just sold it for £150

Proberbly the one he charged my insurance company for and never fitted!

AFAIK the rack is bespoke Noble

Ball joints changed everything checked and tightned but the sound is still there. Which leaves me with only the steering rack as the possible cause £980+VAT supply only kerridges.

Check the mountings, the position of the U bolts is very important

Interesting, I would have said ball joints straight away !
might be best to check the upright/hub carrier too. they've been known to crack.

Checked these and they seem fine, this play is in the rack even when its off the car? Trying to find someone who can possibly refurb it.

Checked these and they seem fine, the play is in the rack also when removed from car? Trying to find someone who might be able to refurb it.

There is a company in West Midlands that will repair your steering rack at a fraction of the cost of a new one. they did one for me last year for my lotus and they were fantastic

If you get these guys to refurb the rack, can you put the details inc cost on the nobleparts website.

The more detail we have on that site the beter it will be for us all.

Gary at crazy horses sold me for 150 as well was perfect!!

Just be carefull when fitting!! The garage i used decided to remove the trackrod end with a hammer rather than use a joint splitter. Ended up cracking the casting of the hub carrier costing me 1200 pound for a new one!!

Stil trying to claim it back as i type.

So be carefull!!

Sure it's not track-rod rubbibg against inside of the wheel on full lock??? More common on M400s but not unknown on 3s
