Hello, just a little question.I need a special socket to remove rocker covers[RV8].It appears to be about 10mm with 12 splines on it.Basically where can I buy one from or is it going to be special order?Cheers,Dave.

Think it's a 10mm bi-hex socket you need.

Colin.

Call Ian @ TorqueRVT, he may be able to advise where to get one from.

They're twelve point, they look like bi-hex from a distance, and you may even be able to get a bihex socket on (it's a b'stard size though - works out to about 8.6mm across flats or just under 11/32", good luck finding one that size). The reason the size seems so awkward is that they're actually a 12-point 8mm spline head. I'd suggest taking one into the shop with you to ensure an exact match, but even I can see the problem with that one!

When you put it back, do yourself a favour and get a set of stainless cap socket screws instead. They're far easier to use. You can get them all over the place, all the usual bolts suppliers, ebay, any RV8 specialist etc.

Edited to add: the thread is 1/4UNCx7/8", but you just need to ask for a set of rocker cover screws for the Rover V8.

A 3/8" drive deep 8mm socket from the Halfrauds pro range worked for me.

I'm not sure it was the bulkhead in the end. I sealed up the area where the studs for the wiper motor go through the bulkhead, but there were no watermarks around the area.

I then discovered a lot of watermarks under the heater matrix, and discovered a pinhole in that! The whole heater box is now sitting in the workshop waiting for me to finish designing a better one that has a hope of working properly...

Now there have been no more leaks, even in the harsh rain we've been having here lately.

Thanks for asking smile
