trustworthy/friendly garage near fareham/southampton?
Discussion
Hi,
I'm looking for a local garage who could help out with anything minor that comes up on my 2.5 - things that it isn't really worth a day off and a 150 mile round trip to the dealer for.
...and who would also be able to work on a kit car or other cheap race car (Porsche 924 or production BMW kind of money), yes I've caught the bug
Can anyone recommend a decent garage near Fareham or Southampton for this kind of thing?
Any help appreciated
thanks
Shane

What about Plans (guildford way).
I also have spoken to reworx (Rx7 guys) about servicing. They will do any high performance rear wheel car.
And Lakside engineering are another one I'm going to try.

Hey Bondy, hope you're well
Plans look good - also for driver training - but they're a fair way. Reworx sound good - did they seem ok when you spoke to them?

Yes mate, I sent them some details about whats required in a service but they have yet to get back to me. Hope the long list didn't put them off?
I plan to pop in and have a chat again.
At the moment I think they will be fine for remdial work (they cleaned my injectors recently).
For my next service I maybe going to the guy in wales for the day.

My car was serviced by Plans by the previous owner and although I have no personal experience they did miss some fairly basic stuff (worn ball joints, untightened jubilee clips etc). I haven't used him yet but Ray West Tuning in Andover will be where I'll be going for my servicing/repair work.
Ray raced and prepared a fantastic Opel Manta a few years ago - he'd done all the things you'd have done yourself and the car was immaculate. He also prepares an Opel Ascona for a guy in the Group 1 Touring car championship to the same standards.
Ray is a recognised Noble service agent.

If you're near Southampton, we should get together (you, me and Bondy) for a run someday when the weather's good.

Have never had major work done by Plans but have to give them credit for correctly diagnosing a longstanding fault in 5 minutes that another was unable to in 3 visits over 18 months. The difference with Plans is they set up race cars so are maybe better for suspension and running stuff.

I would have said Plans are good for the major stuff. They had my engine out when the LSD was fitted.
