On top gear at the moment they are racing in a 24 hour race, did anyone else just see the TVR Sagaris crash into the wall?

I think it is the Sag bodied, chevy powered tuscan race car that's in sprint this month.

yes Racesport built the car using a Tuscan Challenge car as a base, then sticking a sequential transaxle in the back, a corvette c6r v8 up front, a flat bottom and a sagaris bodyshell.

It had some great speed... especially as it had only turned a wheel for the first time 2 weeks earlier..

Top gear showed a pic of it on fire in the pits after the crash... that actually happened on the Friday night, and was rebuilt over night and the following day. Only for some muppet ( running under an assumed name that had bought a drive in it) to bin it on cold tyres straight out of the end of the pit lane, That was after about 3-4hours from memory...

Cracking looking bit of kit and if it comes out again will fly...

Nice article and some Pics from the test day here

Cheers G

p.s. did anyone spot the flashing pit board saying " Lots OF Fog" well that was my contribution... standing on the pit wall for about 36 hours working the numbers and putting increasingly daft messages on the board hehe

It was great that Denis Leech/Racesport had entered the car so soon after finishing the build, and a great shame that the driver binned it coming straight out of the pits on his first stint. I saw at Denis about midnight, 3 or 4 hours after the crash, and he was still, understandably, livid. They recovered from a fire in the car on Friday so for their race to end from driver error was a bitter blow. Messrs Caine, Stanton and Hay must have been furious!

I know Denis is working on heat management at the moment and the car will be back out next season in Belcar/Britcar/Dutch Supercar - so we will probably be racing against it at some point.

Edited to say: good to see Steve Howard getting recognition on Top Gear for running the car for them. His bum crack is now famous!

So who was the MUPPET Driving the CAR - Come on Name Names - I'd have Killed the F&CKER.

Pay drivers that have no talent - What do you expect (was he filled in behind the Pits?).

No it wasn't the guy who built it that crashed it! It was indeed as previously stated, the fourth driver in their line up, who I believe paid to be part of the Team. Although a very stupid moment, which I'm sure will come back to haunt him, it's an easier thing to do than you might realise in the heat of the moment on cold tyres!

If you say sowink

There is alot of run off at Silverstone (just not there!). Personally I can't see how it is possible unless driven by a complete Tool (love to know the name of the person and have been trying to find out smash) that has NO idea and should not be in a Hugely Powerful V8 racerwink

It was running very good times when it was running.
within 1-2 sec a lap off the lead car. well on our watch stop watches.
was good to see it out there. even if it did not do many laps.

Check MST Timing for September.

Yep - good time - very close to the Moslers. When the get a chance to develop it it should be close - but those HUGE huge Mosler type things will always win. (They are RACE Cars, they just make a few token road cars) - joke really IMHO.

I'd have the LS7 Sag any day (well obviously!). I'll build a road one day.

That Sagaris is a one-off special with a re-worked Sagaris body. It's not really a Sagaris at all, in reality. It's a very nicely done car, but very much a prototype.

Mosler road cars make up a much higher percentage of the production than you might think. They're also surprisingly usable on the road. And they're still in production... winkSorry, that was slightly below the belt!
