Below is an email received from Phil at Duke trackdays regarding the trip to the Isle of Man, for those of you that are booked and coming, if you want to do the trackday it is advisable to book ASAP, as places are limited. The increase in price is due to an increase in their Public liability insurance, that they have to pass on.

Book and add your name to the list.

Dean and Alison

Paul from South Coast Performance on the Isle of Man has passed your email to me regarding your clubs’ proposed trip to the Island on 28th March 2008, and the possibility of offering a track day at Jurby on Saturday 29th March.

I can confirm that we have that day booked to us and are pleased to offer places on the track day.

We run a 3 hour, open pit lane, with circuit access restricted to 15 cars, which on the 1.5 mile circuit is the industry norm of one car to every 10th of a mile. This leaves tremendous scope for pushing the cars to the limit on the open spaces of the airfield circuit.

We only book a maximum of 28 cars on the track day, so the open pit lane self administers, but because of that space on the day is fairly limited. This date is also only our second of the year, so interest will be high, and thus places limited. I would suggest that if you are interested in some places on the day, then those are prebooked and allocated as soon as possible. This guarantees your place, and makes a saving of £15 per car and driver, compared to £85 on our turn up and drive rates.

The cost for prebooked places for 2008 is £70 per car and driver. Additional drivers can be accommodated at a cost of £20 and passengers charged a nominal £5. There is currently no charge for spectators.

If I can be of further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me

Regards

Has anyone arranged Track Day Insurance cover? I was hoping that Duke Trackdays were members of the Association of Track Day Organisers. If so then I would have cover from my existing Mannings car policy. Unfortunately Phil from Duke Trackdays told me they are not renewing their membership in 2008. So basically I need to find/pay for one off track day cover. I just wondered if anyone had done this already?

Ok competition car insurance will not cover my car at this track. They say they do not have enough information on the track. On enquiry if this could be sorted out I got a standard reply that the underwriters decision is final and the will not change it.

Has anyone else arranged insurance?

As this is an airfield circuit I would assume it has quite large run off areas so I have not bothered with insurance.
