The missus needs an oil-burner for her commute; I'm wondering about the discrepancies between quoted and real-world MPG. How many MPG does your oil-burner get in different circumstances?
Just in case you thought this thread couldn't be any less exciting, I'll add my dad's Rover 75 CDTi Auto (petrolhead's worst nightmare vehicle of choice!) to the ring. Averaging 39.2MPG around town!
The wifes Leon TDi 110 55 on a long journey. No figures for around town.
My Saab 95 estate TiD 2.2 about 30-35. For a diesel it's crap (intermittent warning lights a known issue on these damn engines), noisy, and thirsty. Current 1.9's are supposed to be OK mind.
Driven 90% around town at the moment, averages 40mpg all day long, best i have had was 53mpg on a motorway and worst was 30mpg, that was from a day out in wales, the roads were perfect
