Thoughts on G27R
Discussion
Hello
I am currently in the process of replacing my TVR with a practical car and a deeply impractical car. I am looking for a road-legal car that will also allow for track days, hill climbs, and the odd bit of fast road work.
Up until now I have been thinking mainly along the lines of a Caterham, but a friend has suggested a G27R and there do seem to be some reasonably priced ones about. I don't know a great deal about them and was hoping if anyone in the know could advise me?
Thanks in advance.

What sort of things do you want to know about them?
I've had a G27 for 8 years now.. Road only.
HiI've had a G27 for 8 years now.. Road only.
Mainly the degree of practicality traded off against performance, and also the availability of major parts.
I'm quite happy to have to fix it, I just hate sourcing bits!
Thanks, Carnage
Most of it is Ford based, so readily available. Some suspension parts are/were Saab, although that might
have all changed since the introduction of the G20 uprights - which are inhouse developed and improve the
whole front geometry no end and can be put on a G27 IIRC.
The factory usually have specialised parts - i.e. Clutch cables, etc...
Your based in Bucks - there are a couple of local experts in Ginettas, Richmond Racing (Surrey) and Alan Fereday (just south
of Reading).. They could certainly help with parts sourcing or alternatives and info.
There might be a G27/3 available... ahem With a 1.8 Zetec in it, dual 45s and Dunnel 3D ECU..
Mostly good nick, with a little tidying up work needed to make your mark on it..
Just in time for the Fiftieth anniversary of Ginetta next year!!
