AC Schnitzer BMW 135i

Tuned baby BMW coupe can hit 185 mph

The BMW 135i is already snapping at the heels of the M3 for performance, but AC Schnitzer has now given it even more power to take on its bigger brother.

The company has wasted no time in releasing the ACS1 Coupe, its version of the 1-Series Coupe that has itself only just been launched.

AC Schnitzer is happy to work on all versions of the 1-Series, including the diesels, but we are most interested in the 135i which has been given 360 bhp instead of the standard 306 bhp.

This means the car is now good for over 185 mph and will hit 62 mph in less than five seconds.

The car has been developed on the Nurburgring, and the company has added a strut brace for the front to stiffen the body.

The front spoiler and rear skirt insert increase downforce and the car has been fitted with 19” alloys.

I can't see any pictures. Just little red crosses.

Is it just me?

Edited to say: It must be me as I can see it now.

Anyway, I don't like the bodykit, but I'd certainly love to have a crack in the car to see what it's like.

I still haven't seen one in the flesh, so I'm going to reserve my judgement until then.

Quality motor this, I was smoking it round in the 123d M-Sport this weekend & it's a really good drive.

Very impressed.

yes No doubt if you speak to them though they'll tune a car purely for performance and leave the Demon Tweeks catalogue in the drawer smile

Looks like an awesome car! I love the 1 series, and think it'd be great with more power.

how can this car with 360 bhp be good for over 185. Who makes this shit up, seriously? Who.

Are we now in the depths of pub bullshit bragging? Yeah I added some phat skinny tyres to my Ford Orion and its now got an extra 50 bhp?

Not bad, i quite like it!

Can't help but think the front end would have looked better with the Z4 style of lights.

The rear needs some tidying up.

Sounds about right to me. Apparently E46s M3s could do 170mph-180mph derestricted.

360bhp is hardly earth shattering and cars with better aero packages with more power struggle to beat 185. PH has turned into the Daily Sport when it comes to these news threads. ITs just bullshit advertising quoted word for word.

A 911 with 355 bhp is claimed to be able to reach 182 mph. I know this doesn't prove the validity of the AC Schnitzer claim, but it doesn't seem totally unbelievable to me.

Its probably a theoretical value which they got from getting the new Cd value of the car in a wind tunnel, but it does sound about right. I wouldn't dismiss it so strongly. However by saying that its good for over 185mph, they mean that its good for 185.1, or there abouts.smile

10 years ago it was rather more unusual...and cars then managed c. 300km/h.

And personally I think I'd find 360bhp in a medium-sized car quite enough, thankyou...rather that than 500bhp but so much extra weight it becomes a barge...

True, but given a long enough straight weight has no bearing on top speed. Top speed is simply a function of power and drag. Drag being a combination of drag coefficient, frontal area and mechanical drag.
