Going tomorrow.. anyone been before? What did you think? Going this time? Things to look out for..? It's not going to be one of those "Pay £10 for a glass or you dont get freebies" events is it..? hehe

How much time did you need to look around?

Dave.

Hi, Ali.. how's it going?
Yep it was good, think I will be back to the Summer edition..
Everyone seemed to be completely wasted on the free drink.. hehe
I obviously didn't drink enough.. brought plenty of it home, though biggrin

Yep true, sure you could have wandered down for some wine-bar duty smile
I've been wondering about an early 08 Brissle, actually..

I worked on the trade version of this (the week after the Good Food show itself) at Earls Court in 1996. It was absolutely awesome! We didn't have to pay a penny for food and drink for the whole three days we were there, and in fact I don't think they even bothered to open the venue catering outlets, as nobody would've bothered using them!

I had huge mounds of the most wonderful haggis and tatties for breakfast every day from the lovely young lady on the stand opposite, and then generally went on the prowl at every opportunity!

The best bit was the last afternoon, when everyone starts swapping and giving away the various samples they can't be bothered to carry away with them. I was working for a market information company at the time, so we had nothing to barter of our own, and had to start from lowly roots. Swapping 48 fresh eggs from the Flanders marketing board for a whole Stilton was a real result!!! By the end of the afternoon, we had enough food and beer for a complete dinner for the three of us on the stand before we went out for the evening. biggrin

The final highlight was when they let loose the dogs of war! Well... They let loose the Gurkhas, anyway. Right at the end, two troops of Gurkhas went blasting round the whole venue, basically taking anything edible that wasn't nailed down, locked up or already removed, to then be parcelled up and given out to the needy of London. At one point, we were treated to the surreal sight of a master cheese-maker in hot pursuit of his vast cheddar, so heavy that it came on a stretcher-type contraption, and was in the process of being carted off by two Gurkhas! laugh

Just a bit curious, how did visitors find the show?, I designed one of the stands at the show, but did not hang around for the show, was it busy/worth going to

cheers Mark
