I have a special birthday present to buy for a tiv owner, and I wondered if any fellow owners would recommend or have used a company I have found in "the Sprint" magazine called Ride-drive.co.uk who deal in training days for handling your tiv on skid pans, and at speed etc. Before I spend quite alot of money just wanted to ask you guys if you have any experience with them? Answers please, as Christmas is a-coming!Cheers!

Do it - its a great way to learn how to get the best out of your car.

Its exhausting, but you will learn so much & you will notice the difference in future drivesbiggrin

Both myself and my better half did an 8 hour lesson in the Cerb including an hour on Elvington just to what the limits actually are. Money well spent in our opinion.

Haven't done one myself - yet - but know several people who have and they thought it was brilliant!

yes Do it, just do it.
You will get so much more from your car than any other "mod" you could spend money on.
I did it after driving for more than 25 years, and learnt a great deal, most of which i still remember and practice.

Did one in september, just brilliant. It was an 8hr day on the road with about an hour at Bruntingthorpe airfield. The most fun you can possibly have with some really good information/training about driving. Gave me so much confidence in the car and also teaches you the limits.
Well worth every penny...(The possibility of lowering my insurance didn't work out for me, but I didn't do it for that.)

I would highly recommend this to everyone.

Book it!

Yep, thumbs up from me! Did the full day with the airfield option. Very worthwhile and the 25% off my insurance was nice too. Interesting to see what happens when you do touch the brakes when cornering hard doing the ton...

Yep, do it. Best few hundred quid I've spent on the car so far. I did the full day incl an hour at Bruntingthorpe in June. I'm knocking on 50 with a very highly developed sense of self-preservation (was driving Chim like a granny!) but the instructor had me drifting round the airfield corners at well over 75mph. Wasn't brave enough for the ton on the bends - maybe NEXT time!! Oh yes going to save up and do another one - might go for the 2 day option.

Superb - highly recommended; have done one full day and one half day and learnt a tonne, plus improved confidence measurably. Also - if your insurance is coming due, and you "pass" the course, you could garner a 25% reduction on your insurance via Adrian Flux.

I've done two and couldn't recommend it highly enough. One full day with an hour at Dunsfold (not on the TG track, just part of the perimeter road) and a half day with an hour on Goodwood skid pan (in their Sierra).

I'm now looking at doing the North Weald driving course next year.

My first upgrade on the Cerb was a Ride-Drive course.

Absolutely invaluable, for a new TVR driver.

Do it, definitely.

I did a half day course a few months ago, and had a great time and learnt a lot about putting the stuff I'd read about (eg. limit point analysis) into practice.

Great fun, and you'll be a better, more confident driver for it.

Caveat:it might be worth trying the half day course first, as I imagine the full day may get a little tiring.

I intend doing another half day in a few months.

Ummm now why didnt I put this on my Christmas list... some excellent comments, like the idea of doing a little bit of 'off road' driving too. Now that present you mention, dont suppose it is for me is it? I know I dont know you, but....

Have been meaning to book myself into a half day for ages now.

Do you need something as powerful as a TVR to get the full benefit out of these days or can you pick up general tips about safer, pacier driving in anything moderate?
