Photo locations in Essex?
Discussion
Afternoon all, i'll be taking a car out from ecurie25 next week, and would like to find a nice place to take some dramatic photos of it. Camera and cameraman quality is prety good (err, me and a Nikon D80), and the car is stunning.
I'm just after some inspiration really, as i know lots of folk have taken photos of their cars around the area.
I was thinking Shoeburyness, Maldon etc, they're quite pretty.
Will be doing daytime and dusk photos.
Thanks

If you are any where near hornchurch or not far off let me know so I can take some pictures of it too
I always found that down tilbury dock was rather good and a rather industrial place
I went down there and asked one of the security guards at a container depot and he let me in to take some pics!

What sort of view do you want? Or just a general mix?
In Maldon you can take it down to the quayside by the Queens Head pub and get some nice shots (make sure tide is in or you get a lot of mud in the shot too). Other than that, head down into the dengie towards Burnham, it's a great drive - and there are a few places along the route - especially heading along the road to Burnham on Crouch - views from the road high up overlooking the river.

This looks like a good thread to watch! So far my experiments with the camera have been in suburban Chelmsford - or if I'm feeling adventurous - Fryerning Woods, so I'm hoping to pick up some suggestions. As for my own observations:
The area around Thaxted and the Bardfields is gorgeous. I grew up in a particularly rural part of Devon and yet felt quite at home around there. Whatsmore, the B3184 is an absolutely superb road for a quick hoon.
A few months back I went out to Heybdrige (near Maldon) and that has a very scenic estuary. Again, you'd never guess it was commuting distance from London (or indeed cycling distance from Chelmsford).
At the risk of digressing; I really was surprised how beautiful the more northern parts of Essex are.

Oddly enough I was going to say take a look at Suffolk.
Kersey and Lavenham are two often photographed villages, for the simple reason that they are both stunning. Plenty of places on the coast to take your fancy, even Feliztowe / Harwich if you want to try to do something artistic with ro-ro ferries, or the odd WW2 fortification

The best place I think in suburban Chelmsford is by the new(ish) M&G offices on Parkway, just past the railway viaduct - turn down the little road as if you are going into their car parks, the lighting is pretty good and a nice semi urban environment.
Would that be this place?http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=smpdn...

I always feel a bit suspect lurking around town with a camera. Probably wouldn't scare people quite as much as the other night when I was do the obligatory streaked-brake-lights photo out of my bedroom window.Mattt said:

If you continue out of Burnham onto the marshes you can get some pretty barren backdrops, the marina in Burnham has most of its boats on the hard standing by now which could make a good contrast. For something very industrial, how about the backdrop of Bradwell Power Station ?In Maldon you can take it down to the quayside by the Queens Head pub and get some nice shots (make sure tide is in or you get a lot of mud in the shot too).
