Black Ultima GTR History ?
Discussion
Hi
Anyone have any idea about the history of the black ultima gtr at Hollingworth at ombersley. Why the price?
Also what is a gtr like to live with? Do they have any form of air con or heating (I know its a sports car) and if not what are they like to live with?
Would I be able to use one as w end runaround and occasional track use or am i better off with a tvr t350 or tamora. (Bearing in mind I have an audiA4 which i use all week).
Any help or advice much appreciated.

I can't address the black GTR for sale, nor can I really the TVR or Tamora comparison as I don't know anything about them. However, the general GTR questions I can help with. I have been in a GTR 6-7 times now, but please keep in mind that mine should be on the road very soon. Yes, they have A/C and heat. Yes, it's the perfect weekday jaunt and weekend track car. It's perfect for me...no kids and the wife doesn't really care about cars too much. So, I get to have fun and drive the GTR wherever I go.Would I be able to use one as w end runaround and occasional track use or am i better off with a tvr t350 or tamora. It's considerably more comfortable than a motorcycle (most anyway) for longer trips, but we'll have to see what level of stamina is required for the multi-day outings. You will pack very lightly for overnight trips, as there isn't a lot of luggage space...especially for two adults. One, no problem.
Don't plan on enjoying "foul" weather in ~any~ car like this. We don't get much rain here, but we do get SNOW & ICE! So the roads, when wet, will not be any fun.
If you get a chance, please allow me to suggest that you dig deeper into the factory site, review some of the builder's sites, and use the search function here. You will probably find the answers to most of the general questions you'll have.

There is nothing like an Ultima for attention!! You will spend ages at filling stations talking to people and filling it with fuel.Anyone have any idea about the history of the black ultima gtr at Hollingworth at ombersley. Why the price?

It is perfect for a nice weather weekend car and even a mild one will be quicker than any TVR

Which is why the post. I had pretty much set my heart on a tvr tamora or maybe t350 until i saw the 450bhp black on black which i have posted about and am now very curious. Are they really high maintenance/reliable? Or too put it another way will it cost me more than a tvr to run?
Also are they hard to sell on?
It looks like the GTR built by Darren Gosbee, one time co-ordinator of the South East Section of the (now defunct) Ultima Owners Club, I recognise the wheels and blue seat belts. Darren was extremely meticulous with the build and I believe the engine was a "one off" Soon after completion he sold the car and emigrated to the USA.
problem is there are about three which all look kinda tempting. One is the 98 sport 7 litre but not sure about the front though, its up for the same kinda money but as a bonus its in holland (ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!). Theres also a convertible version for about 24k but it has the smallest engine. So not as appealing a large amount of modification would be required.

I asked about this car a few months back on here and someone said they'd looked at it but were disapointed with the build quality.
Be easier to price if the specs were listed perhaps.
Build quality whilst an issue is not too much of a biggie as I dont mind a little modification. One idea i have is to fit a new redesigned dash with a built in pogo drive where the speedo would be, also the 7ltr one in holland not sure about build quality but the bodywork front wise doesnt look right and side pods as well so would look into whether its possible to retrofit the gtr front and side pods to it. Lots of options and taking my time to think about things.Be easier to price if the specs were listed perhaps.
Main problem is the need it now syndrome. Want a w end car but also want to build one but am possibly moving abroad in 09 and shipping to new country is a no go due to stupid import duties so would not be able to finish build quick enough.
