Hello fountains of knowledge!!

Right, I have purchased a Tuscan Race Car that I want to use in the TVRCC Sprint Champs, however, in order to avoid being classified as a 'Sports Libra' (for which I will need a National A Open Licence - which I don't have) I need to get the car road legal.

Does anyone have any direct experience of getting a Tuscan Race car road legal... I know that there are a few out there.

Help will be much appreciated.

Check the small print with the appropriate organisers. Getting a Tuscan through the SVA is not a trivial matter and it still may not allow you to run in a production class even if the car is road legal. Production classes normally require the car to be a recognised production ROAD car in the first place. The whole idea of this was to stop race cars suddenly becoming production cars and cleaning up.

In the TVR Championship, they typically have their own class and so this issue goes away. You still might need a Nat A open licence though as some clubs insist on it with non-road legal cars over 2 litres.

It would be much much cheaper and easier to get yourself an A licence, which just requires you to complete ten events under your B licence. Obviously you will need something other than the Tuscan for those events. Depending on your level of experience that might be sensible anyway.

Well as far as I know, I only need a B Licence for The Tuscan Challenge, and will be running a 4ltr Tasmin Race car, I know this was once a road car. but now its total un road legal.

For the Tuscan/Sagaris Challenge, you do only need a Nat B licence to race. After satisfactorily completing 6 races with the Clerk of the Course signatures on your upgrade card, you can then simply upgrade to a Nat A.

Can't advise regarding sprinting as I've never done that.

Why don't you keep the race Tuscan as a full on racer and come and join the fun in the Tuscan/Sag Championship. Next year is looking particularly good! By the way, just out of interest, where did you buy yours from?

Leigh - you and Steve are quoting circuit racing licence regs - the OP is talking about Sprint regs
