Beetle Cabrio 1.9tdi or 1.6 petrol

Hi Guys,
Can anyone offer advise on which engine option is better in a cabrio?
I seem to have read that the 1.6 struggles with the roof down and so need to work out the best engine option for city / mixed motorway driving.
Any opions would be welcomed

Can't imagine the reasoning that leads to buying a diesel cabrio - surely it'll be noisy at low speed and windy at high speed, so what's the point?

Posing without spending a fortune on fuel I guess.

Although I do agree with the above, a rattly diesel like the unit in question (particularly at town speed) would quickly annoy me, plump for a bigger petrol engine if you can.

Are you buying new or used?
