Ok, never been to Le Mans before, but a few mates and me are thinking about going in 2004. My question is, how the hell do we go about sorting everything out, entrance tickets, camping e.t.c? How much is it likely to cost? Would any one be willing to let us join a group from here if I provided beer transport space in the Rangie?

Try and get tickets from the ACO email ticket@lemans.org and try and reserve some tickets as they go pretty quickly. I am trying to sort out a group myself so you are more than welcome to join us. We try and go on the thursday and usuallt return monday, so you don't have to rush out of the place on sunday and obviously carry on drinking. Should set you back with ferry and 4 in car about 150 each i think.
Rich,
You more than welcome to join our group, especailly with your load carrying potential
We always book via the TVRCC and an entrance ticket is about £35 and camping permit (1 per car) is about the same. The booking form is usually printed in the TVRCC Magazine about October time.
I'll email you nearer the time to see if your still up for it, or we'll have a chat next time I see you at Donington

motorsport international - find them on the web can sort you out with entrance / campng tickets.
if your feeling braver, just tickets can also do it.
the only problem with going through the ACO I have found is that you really have to wait for the tickets. The Uk agencies book massive ammounts of tickets, so it is unlikely you will not get them. If your looking to go, sort out what dates you want to travel Thursday to Monday is common. Post on here and see if there is anyone organising a convoy from yoru area. its more interesting and if yoru a first timer, its easy to miss out on some of the events if you dont know where they are or how to get to them.
As a guide. £50 per person entrance, £50 per car camping, Stand tickets anything from £50 to £150 per person. Ferry crossings are usually the biggest expense, some can cost up to £450 per car, whilst others as low as £200 per car.
Channel Tunnel is an option if yoru in Kent, but you have a long drive down.
Most common crossings are Portsmouth / Poole / Plymouth
to Roscoff / St Marlo / Cherbourg / Caen / Le Harve.
if your unsure, ask on here. some one will have an answer to your question

I went for the first time this year, I was very happy going for a "package" with the TVR club. You can pick and chose want you want e.g. coach into the town and back on the Friday, grandstand seats but get the entrance and camping as standard. Example prices :
Camping per car- Maison Blanche £35
Entrance per person - £40
Gtandstand per person - £60 (which was excellent btw - I'm not saying which one!)
My Eurotunnel ticket cost about £170 (I booked late).
Having been once I can see how you can do it yourself - but I'll probably do the same for next year.
Cheers,
Andy.

Cheers Steve,
I may take you up on that offer, i should be able to transport a few targa panels, tents, beverages etc if you dont mind waiting for me to arrive! (me thinks i would need to leave a day or so early so we arrived at the same time) i should be at Donington for the DTM and FIA Sports Cars on the saturday's so might catch up with you there.
