Have you got a race prepared Ginetta in need of a race?
Do you want some exciting, good value, racing in 2008?

WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU.

G4, G12, G15, G16, G20, G27, GT4 .....?

We are hoping that 2008 will be the first year of running an exciting new race series for all race prepared Ginettas. Negotiations have yet to be finalised, but we are intending to run the series over six double-headers at one day BARC meetings at well known circuits in the South East of England. Entry fees will be kept to a reasonable level (i.e. as cheap as we can economically make them!)

Any Ginetta from any era (subject, for safety reasons, to a maximum power output and engine capacity) will be welcome to race and an appropriate class structure will be devised to make sure that everyone gets the good, close racing you want. There will also be a class for modified cars which do not conform to any previous Ginetta Championship regulations. The Golden Ginettas series will be strictly for fun and the aim is to keep all unnecessary costs to an absolute minimum so that we attract as many entrants as possible and keep the racing exciting. Any avoidable contact on track will not be acceptable!

We are hoping to attract a lot of the G20s, G27s and GT4s that have raced over the last few years in the official Ginetta Cup which will run in classes reflecting the championship regulations of when they last raced. We also want to attract older Ginetta models - provided they have all the appropriate safety equipment fitted, obviously – so that the full history of the marque will be racing on track side by side. While the Golden Ginettas series will be run independently from Ginetta Cars, we are very pleased that they have given us their blessing for this series and that they share our aim to get as many of these superb machines back where they belong – on the racing track.

At this stage, it is important that we are able to provide BARC with a good idea of how many people might be interested in racing with us next year. If we cannot demonstrate sufficient support then we will not be able to reserve the race slots at their meetings and Golden Ginettas will just not happen! We are not asking for a commitment from you, right now, that you will enter the Golden Ginettas series next season – just an indication that you may be interested and that there is a good chance that you will enter. If we can demonstrate the interest from you, we can get the support of BARC and we will race!

So please let us know if you are interested in the Golden Ginettas series……………………and let’s get on the race track!

We look forward to racing with you in 2008!

Fantastic idea!

I'm getting happier and happier all the time that the old rifts seem to be healing at long last.

I hope there is a good uptake for this. It'd be a little slice of heaven to be able to walk around the paddock and parc ferme on a race weekend with a line up of G's from across the ages smilebounce

Hi, thanks for all of your support,
Regarding the classes, obviously a lot will depend on the cars we get entered and we will try and work around our supporters, but our aim is for everyone to have a good, fair and exciting race. Our initial thoughts are to have three classes along the lines of:-
(1) Modern - G20s, G27s and GT4s running to recent Championship specifications.
(2) Classic - for any earlier models of Ginettas running true to period.
(3) Modified - any model which has been enhanced in some way to increase performance (this class will run with free choice of tyres, profile etc.)
This is still early days for Golden Ginettas and we need as many people as possible to show their support, at least in princple, so that we can demonstrate that we will be able to achieve large enough grids to make it onto the BARC calendar.
I hope that you are as excited as we are about getting this off the ground and making it a success. Please let us know if you might be interested in racing with us next season and please feel free to ask any more questions if you need any further information.
Best wishes.
Michael.

Will the G50 be eligible to run in some Golden Ginetta races?

I'm pretty sure if you buy a G50, you race it in the factory championship.... it's part of the deal.

Hi James,

Yes that's correct, though you are not limited to the factory Championship. This sounds like it could be fun to do if dates don't clash, hence the reason for asking.

Apologies.
What are the rules with testing in the g50 championship, can you do as much as you like?

Any thoughts/ideas/etc as to dates and events?

Although my G20 will be lurking with intent again in the Senior series - I do have an interest for someone else (from karting) to run it in an alternative one but they're interested as to dates and possible clashes/etc...

If too early days then you can just say that it's 50/50 for another car....

Cheers

Hi again everyone - thanks for the interest.

Yes, I'm afraid that it is too early for us to give an accurate idea of dates and venues, except to say that we are hoping for - and should be able to achieve - the popular circuits in the South East of England that we all know and love so well. Before we can get commitment from BARC to include us on their calendar, though, we have to show that we have a good chance of attracting reasonable sized grids. So your 50-50 support is worth a lot to us right now and we hope we will be able to deliver what you, or your friend, are looking for.

The basic details that you have already read above are on our new website:

http://www.goldenginettas.co.uk/

.....and we will keep this site up to date with any news when we have it. Watch this space!

As for the question of running G50s in Golden Ginettas - I'm afraid the answer has to be a no. Apart from the fact that this would be rather treading on LNT's toes with their brand new series - with which we wish them every success - they would be just too fast and powerful to share a grid with the older cars. For safety reasons we have to draw the line at the G20, with this being, for now at least, the latest car allowed.

I'll keep PHers updated with any further news.

Cheers,

Michael.

Not wishing to open a can of worms but .....

Although the G20 is numerically earlier than G32, 33 and 34, in production terms it is much later so I assume all models up to G33 (and if you can find one) G40 will qualify.

OK I do understand, but if you change your mind let me know. I can't see it would tread on LNT's toes as I believe I am free to enter the car in any other series it is eligible for, so long as it is also entered in the entire G50 Championship.

Kind regards,

Robin

We haven't been given a rule book yet but my understanding is testing will not be restricted.

I'm with robin on the G50. My sponsor would love to do a round or 2 that didn't clash with the G50 cup. would be much cheaper than doing a britcar round!
