Customs and Excise will need to have an inspection of your premises and your stock tracking systems.
IIRC, one thing they will want to ensure is that stocks are uniquely identifiable, and a full relationship between each incoming consignment and all the stock items therein.
They may insist on serial numbers having a relative consignment number as part of it, but if you are using a computer system that can track items well then this may not be necessary.
You may also need to "separate" or virtual separate your warehouse if you have "free" goods and bonded at the same place, they will explain in more detail what they require.
I don't know any details, but have you considered using using C101 IPR procedure to import the goods?

free stock and bonded, yes i agree, i once worked for New wave, less said on that, and anything entering the building was labelled according to date of arrival and value, unfortunately that technology is not available here, and the stock (Furniture) is not easilly identified, the problem we have is the date containers are available dockside from a customs point of view, does not suit the delivery pattern here, and we are quite for mon/tues, then deluged the rest of the week, as a bonded site, we could recieve as we wish, dependant only on the ships reaching Soton on schedule
