seat belt info

I`m not very big as some of you know and the seat belt connection used to dig into my ribs. The solution was to fit peugeot 306 seat belt stalks and the connection is now at the hip area and much more comfortable.

That'a a useful tip. I've always found the seatbelt stalks on my S3 to be rather long, although it hasn't bothered me enough to make me do something about it. I imagine they are the same as the originals on your S2. Do you have a photo available?

The "slow to return" seat belts are TADTS... the top bracket alignment is crap.

Look on pies' site for the seat belt mod - you get a couple of brackets made up to extend and turn the top mounting, the seat belt is easier to reach, it sits better across your shoulder and the belts return freely. I did mine - it works!

Thanks for that, I remember seeing yours but had missed Pies (sorry Colin)... its a must do this winter, Ive also got my fire extinguisher mounted in that area making the route from the winding mechanism to the crap bracket even more tortuous... Has anyone ever thought of making a batch of those special bolts (or is that something else I've missed ? )

I dont think so, someone was looking at doing it but I think there was an issue regarding the fear of liability in the event of an accident or something along those lines, thats why I ended up making my own.

and for anyone contemplating it, beleive me Stainless is a bitch to drill and tap etc, thats probably why the machining was so expensive

OK my mate in the village has a machine shop and has offered to make me the odd bit and piece in the past and so far I have never taken him up on his offer... I will speak to him about making a batch of these to Pies drawing and I will get back to see how many are required if its a go-er...

we'll need to cover his costs which may include a set of taps ?

Ken - can you remember what spec Stainless you used ? 304 or 316 ?

I am fairly sure it was marked up as 316, but must confess I was only interested in it being Stainless at the time.I know one of the engineers at work commented on it and said it wasnt far off being surgical quality???
