Bonnet retaining catches - where from ?

The spring, nut and bolt jobbies that hold the bonnet closed - anybody know there origin ? and or part number ? I would punt at Ford bonnet catch - Escort MkII or III or Cortina Mk 3, 4 or 5 maybe.

Mine are worn and the flats on the nut buried in the bonnet have rusted beyond the point you can get a grip on them, so they cannot be adjusted and the near-side doesn't often stay clipped down for too long.

I did a search, without a result and have looked at parts lists and TVRparts.

They'll need cutting off and replacing so over to you...........

I reckon they are also the same (or very similar to) the ones used on Morris Minors and old Minis - I've banged my head on them on both those vehicles often enough to remember them! So they may well be common to all sorts of BL/BMC/Austin/Morris/Triumph/Rover/MG/Whatever cars... For example, take a look at part numbers 47-51 in

If you can't find a Metro spares supplier, maybe a specialist for one of the above can help. You'll need to check they are exactly the same of course.

A word of warning - I adjusted my bonnet recently to improve the shut lines, which meant adjusting the catches. I got the N/S one wrong and it jammed closed. It was a devil of a job to shake it open again!
