Anyone else seen this in the latest EVO magazine ?

I hadn't seen this before but apparently Audi have been involved in the development of the Quattroporte and are now trying to get a controlling stake in the companies.

Personally, based on what they have done with recent acquisitions I don't think this would be a bad thing although not sure about the conflict with owning Lamborghini as well

Hmmm. I'll believe it when I see it, and in any case I suppose it could be worse.
Negative: hate bloody massive conglomerates; when did VW/Audi group last produce a decent sports car; for fecks sake don't let Audi mess with the steering; they own Lambo too

Positive: German engineering + Italian design is a pretty good recipe (though, like kids, it could be the other way round of course); it could be GM instead; Ferrari UK will no longer be a law unto themselves; customer service *may* improve; if something goes wrong they stand a hope in hell of finding out what it is; the F1 system will finally be a dual clutch, like it should have been in the first place.

Suspect it'll depend on the Ferrari management and how much autonomy they have. Whatever, if they make a pox of it, your car will be worth more Frostie! And there's always Aston Martin- hardly Hobson's Choice these days is it?

I would be amazed if this were to happen,,,VW usually seem pretty shrewd on purchases if Bentley is anything to go by.
The 10% of Ferrari that went through Mediobanca last year valued the company at something like 12 x that of Porsche,,,no disrespect to Ferrari here,,but Porker has the highest overall profit per car..At the time Ferrari looked really over valued,,,maybe VW have got round this?

Going on my latest diabolical service from Ferrari dealers and Ferrari UK and for that matter Ferrari in Italy(so the buck gets passed) this cant happen too soon. However it is a very sad fact that everything seems to be going the German route.....
BUT ferrari could take a few lessons from Sytner BMW in Stratford. The service from these guys re my M3 has been nothing short of exceptional They have been more professional than ANY of my experiences with Ferrari, Lotus and TVR. For example, my 360 will be sitting @ the dealers for the 3rd weekend in a row still awaiting further instructions from Ferrari HQ.
There was no courtesy call for a whole week so I had to call to find out what was going on. Case Rested m'lord.
Ferrari..
You are sentanced to a lifetime German takeover in order that you may be rehabilitated.

No!
Just think, then we'd have to share one PH section between about 20 marques or something.

This must not happen. I'd be really sad.

Anyway, they're in my good books since they invited me to drive a 575...

The reason I bought a GTA was in part down to the beautiful soundtrack of it's engine. An Alfa won't be the same with the mandatory VAG 1.8T sewing machine.

I've just had a thought. Maybe VAG want to produce cars like Tamiya (RC cars) used to. They would make only one platform and engine package, then offer it with different body shells. Would you like your standard VAG platrom with a Lambo, Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati or RS6 style bodyshell, sir?

I wonder how the traditional Ferrari fans will take to 4x4 and twin turbo power, lol.
