Having enquired not so long ago, I believe that Santa Pod will actually let you organise your own 'Run What You Brung' i.e. hire the strip, at not such an extortionate cost.
Would this be an interesting twist to a PFest next year, (albeit timing of beer and pies would have to be cunning so as to not have everyone enjoying a Bubble moment)?
(Could put clean loos at end of strip to encourage people to particpate).
Thoughts anyone?

Long marston do the same
I've been pondering this too.
How about, finding some interesting one day race at Donnington for example, then enquiring about hiring the track in the previous two days.
So friday we have the PH trackday.
Saturday we have charity passenger laps and manufacturer demonstration sype things, Bands etc on sat night.
Retire to PH area in that bit after the britge at the old hairping on the infield where you can see loads, for sun morning sleep and racing on sunday.
Or variations on that theme. Kind of a Folembray for the great unwashed who can't afford/be bothered to go to france.

These options were considered prior to PF 2003.
SantaPod couldn't offer us a ticketing arrangement that we could cope with.
I don't want to do a track day event on this scale as I believe that track days with very large audiences encourage people to push too hard.
We thought we would get a RWYB element this year but there were unforseen complications.
It is something we'd like to do though and will be working towards that either next year or the year after.

I'm with you on this one Ted...(now there's a shock)
As much as I love track days, I can't help but think something shitty would happen if everyone was out there on the track in front of a big crowd of PHers... certainly a straight blast down the runway at somewhere like Bruntingthorpe would be more sensible. (IMO, of course)
I'm sure you can find something as good or even better for us all next year, but saying that, this year was fantastic IMO and apart from a few more activities and better toilet facilities, I can't see why it needs tinkering with too much.
We need to bear in mind that (like BTaP last year) it was the first one, and to have such a great one the first year gives you something excellent to build on in years to come.
All of our little mob that camped together had a fantastic time...it can only get better!

a RWYB event would be great - need to find something worthy of competing against my two seater, rear engined, rear wheel drive, turbocharged monster though...
Anyone up for it??
Would be nice to see Dazrens porker obliterate it to show the true difference between a shopping car and a supercar!! Wouldnt mind taking on any of the other smart owners on PH either...

If a RWYB is inappropriate or logistically difficult for PFest, (and for my part I think a track day definitely is), then do any PH'ers fancy going along to a public day at Santa Pod and having a go?
Always fancied it and would benefit from losing my cherry amongst other drag virgins (if you know what I mean).

It'd certainly be fun to see the relative speeds of our cars.
Definitely something i thought would be cool, given that some guys cars at PF were as quick down the quarter mile in standard tune to some of the smaller dragsters...
Mind you - i was thinking along the lines of a face-off. Dragsters versus PH'ers, for a bit of friendly rivalry....
Might also help some of the slightly negative opinions some had of the dragster fraternity, as they were quite decent people IMO!

I quite like Ted's concept: Folembray for RWYB, PistonFest for social &camp and watching ie. dragsters and BTAP as a more civilised gathering in terms of sitting on dry tables and sleeping in real beds
There'd be something for everyone!
Agree with that
Each has its own place in the PH calender

I would definitely be up for this
Just to add to the thread, I thought BT&P was excellent (like all the others). The thought of clean hotel & decent food always goes down well!!
As a summer varient on this, how about a summer-ball type (ie. where one can start the frivolities from early afternoon - but all around / in the same hotel-type thang)?
All good stuff - am sure any combination will work!
