Gents,

I had a stone flick up and crack the side window of the Diablo, and am in two minds about whether to claim it on insurance or stump up the £500 myself. My main concern is that it may result in a disproportionate increase in the premium next year.

Does anyone have any experience in this area?

Thanks

Definatley worth going through the small print in you insurance policy - some specify all glass, others only stipulate windscreen.

I had a drivers window smashed in a Cerbera that I owned - and ended up paying paying for it - as I was told fairly plainly that this would result in increased premiums (you know they always win!)

Hope this helps.

I had 2 windscreens on the insurance, and when the renewel came thru, it was the exact same price as an 'anonymous quote' on the companies (tesco) web quote.

So I would say no, BUT, I was told by tesco themselves that the first 2 were free, but a 3rd in 5 yrs would result in a loss of ncb...

so, make sure you go elsewhere for one year

On my renewal quotes this year I was asked if I had any previous windscreen claims as a separate question. This was the first year it had been asked, so I reckon they are just starting to figure it in where it was previously ignored. I don't know what the effect would be though. Probably not huge, not like having an accident.
