Hi All,

It's another should i or shouldn't i thread.

I currnetly have a 2000 W Tuscan. I have owned it for 11 months and apart from a slave cylinder problem, which was repaired under waranty, it hasn't skipped a beat.
Because it is nearly 1 year since i bought it the warranty needs extending, a service is required, it requires M.O.T.ing and Taxing.
Ultimately £2k+.
I have seen a 2003 03 T350 C for £23k+ which looks extremely nice.
I was just thinking it was worth selling and buying a newer TVR than spending £2k+ particularly on a 7 year old car.
Am i thinking straight.

Thanks in advance, particularly for the Tuscan V's T350 info,

Nev

It's worth buying a newer different car, as that'll make a nice change. However, I would spend the 2K to get the Tuscan in tiptop condition prior to selling. You'd probably have to drop the price 2K to shift it as it is, and it might also take a while. I would rather pay a higher price for a sorted car than risk the unknowns of a service!

This rather sounds like you are trying to off-load a dodgy car prior to an expensive service, to save yourself "£2k+". I wouldn't touch that Tuscan with a barge-pole, let alone £2k less than you think it is worth.

You've got it all wrong.laugh

The car is spot on!
The £2k+ is for;
1)New warranty = £1.5K+ (+vat)
2)Service = £600 (+vat)

So you see it is whether to spend £2k+ just to get it ready for another years motoring in the same car.

I bought the car from HHC and they have been great. The T350 C is also in HHC and it would come with a years warranty, it would be serviced, MOT'd and you never know complete with 6 months tax!!!!

That is what this is about not trying to offload a dodgy car because it is far from it.

You will end up getting a lot less than what you paid for the Tuscan espeicially if you trade it back in at HHC (or any other dealer)so in the long run it would be either be 2.5K to keep the Tuscan for another year or about 13K to buy the T350.Depends how deep your pockets are!!!!

But you can't run/own TVRs with your head, you have to do it with your heart. Otherwise you'd have a diesel Golf smile

Given the choice of Tuscan or Tesco, Tuscan for me every time purely for appearance.

Nev, having just bought a T350c following close to 3 years of tuscan ownership a few observations:

1. The T350c is a much better put together car and therefore feels a far more sophisticated and one month into ownership and nothing has fallen off.
2. The T350c does feel slower than the Tuscan RR / S
3. The T350c doesn't turn as many heads and therefore does not attract quite so many wierdos
4. The T350c actually corners! and just feels so much safer and better planted on the road
5. The T350c doesnt have so many removable / fragile damagable parts
6. The T350c has a bonnet so you can show your friends (easily) the engine!

In my opinion and I realise that is limited just to that of one man I much prefer the T350. It is slower as standard but like most tuscans a RR conversion is not out of the question. The ride, handling and comfort factor are 100% better especially compared to the early Tuscans and overall I believe they cost piles of cash less to run..just see my tuscan profile!

Cheers Toobin,

Your points regarding looks and performance i expected, but i only had the thoughts regarding comfort, ride, handling, feel etc...

You've confirmed what i am thinking that in the long run it could pay off.

I do love my Tuscan it has been a great and unusually for some reliable introduction into the fantastic world of TVR's.

I just hope, as mentioned earlier, that i am offered enough for mine to be able to afford the T350.

Cheers again,

Nev

I agree with a lot of what Toobin says. I too went from 3 years in a Tuscan to a T350. That was over 3 years and 70,000 miles ago and I still think the T350 is the best TVR I've had.
It does feel a little slower in a straight line or on a nice smooth race track but in real world driving it is easier to drive 'harder' and hence almost certainly quicker point to point. It feels more planted and more chuckable and the shorter overhangs make it feel much more manouvreable.
I get as many stares and comments in my T350 as I did in the Tuscan and both are pretty vivid colours and despite driving in London a lot I haven't had any real weirdo issues.

The main feature in this month's Sprint is on the T350. It has a number of owner's views in it.

After a test drive and that inevitable discussion regarding pennies i bought the T350c.

I pick it up this friday and can't wait.bounce

The Tuscan has been exellent, very reliable and i've loved every minute i've had it (except when the slave cylinder went).
It felt, as some have said, more planted, slightly slower in a straight line but overall felt like a much more modern car. I got what i hoped for for the Tuscan and managed to get a sports exhaust fitted to the T350c as part of the deal so i'm happy. The noise of the T350 next to it in the garage with the sports exhaust on was fantastic so i'm well chuffed!!
