Help Please 145

I girl in my office is having trouble with her 145, the petrol is not getting from the tank to the engine?

She has been quoted £65.00 just to plug it in and find out what is wrong. Is this about right or can you let me know where to start looking for the fault.

Is it definitely fuel that is the problem? Is she trying to start it (especially when hot) and it's just spinning and not firing and then eventually it will start? This is a common problem and it is the crank sensor which has gone.

I dont know if she has got it sorted yet, but there is a fantastic site which has LOADS of tech info and what not on it at: alfa145.co.uk
Should be able to diagnose what it is that wrong by searching through the forums... there is a search facility there as well. V usefull.

Check for fuel pump noise...presume it's accessible from the boot like some other Alfas. If there's no noise check the fuses and relays listed in the handbook.

Have you checked the fuel cut off switch, under the passenger seat? May need resetting.

Try the obvious before shelling out for a plug in!
