It depends on what year.
The original colour was the BMC mid-green. It's a Land Rover Bronze-Green and I do all my engines that colour, unless I'm asked for something different for a customer.
Later cars have a lot of different colours. The 998's were yellow, the 1275 were black or red. I don't have a chart.

as a rule of thumb
early cars where all green
early 1970s on where black
a plus 1000 where yellow
a plus 1275 where red
twin points are black
recons where either gold or silver in the days of bmc/leyland, black normally in later days
i doubt you will ever get a straight answer on the correct green - it seams to be a mini annorack cock jousting special!!
i just buy the green areosols - they seem about right

minispares. part number GAP410.
you will need 2 cans to do a full engine and gearbox
Also don't use one can for the block nd one can for the head etc, use one can for first coats on everything nd second can for remainding coats . The mixes are always the same . Sorry Rich but its true !you will need 2 cans to do a full engine and gearbox

good point tho', always check the final colour - ive been caught out a few times
I use a brush-on synthetic paint for this. I went to my paint supplier with an old rocker cover and asked him to match it. It came out as a Land Rover Bronze-Green and looks identical. A litre tin does lots of engines and, if I want to spray it, for a rocker cover for instance, I just prime with synthetic primer, then thin and spray. It works out a lot cheaper than the spray cans and can be touched-in with a small brush as necessary.
