Any serious rust on a subframe is an MOT failure.

To prevent rust, try Hammerite paint, lots of coats, and waxoil over the top.

Surface rust is acceptable, but rust affecting structural strength of the subframe is not.

Strip off the muck, old paint and rust. Prime with David's Zinc 182* galvanizing paint. Hammerite (Preferably black) and waxoyle it.

It'll be indestructable then.

...just don't drop it on you finger while your doing it...

...like I did.

OUCH, blood, three stitches... etc.
