95 or 97 ron Fuel?

Its an M400, the owners manual that comes with it is for a M12 GT0. I have it in front of me and I quote...

My M12 manual says :

I don't know then.
Just to confuse you ,my m12 manual states

However when this is not available your vehicle will operate satisfactorily on standard 95 RON
I've had to refuel halfway thru a trackday on 95 ron , and I can't honestly say I noticed any difference...however I do use 98 as the norm . I guess the thoughts behind this are to protect against pre-detonation when using 95 ron . ( although the knock sensor should retard the ignition should this happen anyway).
I'd use 98 or higher if you drive it hard IMHO.

Hi mate, i use Shell V Power all the time and my car runs sweet. A higher octane is supposed to be better for high performance cars, im not totally sure if it does make significant differences or not. Stick to the V Power and you wont go wrong!! "All Nobles from the 3R onwards were mapped for 95. There's no knock sensor so 97 or more will give you nothing (I proved this on my 500bhp+ machine), so unless the mapping has been played with 95 is fine."
Ignore my b0llx then , I must have been given an 'old stock' manual.
The money I could have saved on using 95 RON could have paid for my 3R to be remapped !!

This has been talked about before.
I understand the car is set-up for 95 and if anything higher is used it will make no difference as the cars have no knock sensor. The choice is how clean is the fuel. I use V-Power (for the air miles and it seems to be cheaper than BP Ultimate).

Still, I've had no issues and I know Trevor mapped mine for 95. I seem to remember him saying for the small amount of extra go he could get mapping with 97+, it wasn't worth the pain of trying to find the fuel...or risking it if you have no choice.

The "car" is quite clever actually. If you ever get the chance speak with Trevor at Rousch. She won't pink with 95 RON. Mr. L. Noble told me personally during the old days when he was permitted to be chat directly with the Nobility.In the good old days when the factory participated on the forum, Simon confirmed that 95 Ron was fine and that it was <1% difference in performance between the two.
You could phone the factory and ask, but you might as well ask your cat instead. (Not a good experience today when calling, can't believe these people used to be one of the most customer focused I knew.)
