Thinking of getting a bluetooth radio/CD for xmas.
Would it work in a TVR would i still be able to make/receive a phone call with the roof down and the engine noise.
Has anyone got one?
Are there good ones and bad ones?
Would like to use carl baker but he's too far but it should be a straight swap with my old one.
Thanks,

Obviously dont know if its any good yet, as its not been released.
But I am waiting to see this from Parrot.

No CD drive, but accepts USB drives and is of course BT for the phone.

that looks very nice!

I dont use the phone when driving any more but the missus says its impossible to hear anybody even when used a mobile normally so I doubt a handfree will be of much use in a tiv especially with the roof off/down

I like the idea of no CD drive, buy a 16Mb usb stick and change your music as you wish.

Not sure yet but you may be able to use something like a 40gig 2.5 HDD in a usb caddy!

And the best bit, they are quoting around £150 !!!!!

Even got a little storage hatch behind the front panel.

If you like the idea of no drive (as often tusc is not the everyday car and no cds) I have one of these. http://www.alpine-europe.com/index.php?id=digital_...

It has the new alpine phone ready system so you just add the bluetooth module and then its all neat in one little rather swish unit.

It is best when using an iPOD but works with USB drives etc too.

The parrots we fit all day everyday and there ck3000 ck3100 are great this new stereo type thingy though I am not too sure...

oh and I am new on here so hi!

Cheers

I've been considering various ICE combinations for the Chim because the Pioneer radio/cassette has to go. Deliberated H/U with multi changer or blue tooth H/U and other combinations. Have decided, after deiscussing with Absolute Audio (who are located very conveniently - and finding by chance - just around the corner to me, on this;

http://www.alpinecaraudio.co.uk/alpine-cde9871r-kc...

As for bluetooth I'll probably have a Parrot CK3000 fitted.

  • If anyone is looking for a CD autochanger, I have a little used Blaupunkt CDC-AO3 10 disc changer up for offers!

its a nice unit but doesnt have the bluetooth ability from memory... the ck3000 is fine though.

I dont think we have ever had a 3000 go wrong. in fact the only prblem parrot for us has been the 3200 colour screen version had a few back under warranty.

I would consider space on you motor. the tusc does not have any room and a no parrot system would fit without a large amount of messing around.

the sony bt5000 is another unit which has bluetooth connection both for audio streaming and obviously hansdsfree

cheers

All I get is people saying "Sorry what was that? All I can hear is an engine....." biggrin

I'm toying with the idea of getting one of these for the T350 ... is it easy to fit and route the cable into the glovebox!?!? Would any dealer be able to do this, or should I book into a specialist car audio place ... any ideas of reputable places I can trust my Tiv with in/around Reading appreciated :-)

Apologies for the thread hi-jack!

Chim 450, roof down and sleeved exahust=no hope. Tried bluetooth headset. No one could hear me even when parked up with the engine running. Tried using the handset, no still cant hear you. Had to turn the engine off to take the call.

Being serious, I've always had to either pull over and go to none BT or use my 'plugged in' headphones.

Yep, me too. I've got a Jabra Bluetooth headset and its great in quiet conditions but useless in the TVR. It may possibly be OK with the roof on but with the roof off you've got not only the sound of the engine etc but wind noise too, and even the slightest wind passing (ooh err) over the mic translates to background noise like the sound of waves crashing. Only its more foreground noise than background if you get my drift.

You could try borrowing a headset and go for a test drive.

Ive got a sony bluetooth head unit in the tuscan and with the roof off it sounds ok, its got a memory stick reader and stores phone numbers it also allows you to play the music off your phone. I would deffinatly recomend one.

thats what you need, only £299, I got one for the cerb, although as with any headunit in the cerb, i think amplification and a sub would be needed to be able to hear music properly over the engine.

have a look at the following bluetooth ready stereos at www.caraudiosecurity.com
Pioneer DEH-P55BT - good design and easy to use OR,
Pioneer DEH-P85BT, better model, higher spec'd with OEL graphics.
Alternatively, have a look at the Alpine IDA-X001 package with the Bluetooth module - this stereo is purely an iPOD ready stereo so you can't play CD's. Quality unit with a big text display:
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_...

Don't go for the Sony's as the the Bluetooth mic is built-into the front panel of the stereo - and with a TVR it will def. pick up interference and noise.
