Saw another TVR today

Hey people,

I saw another TVR today. This one might be the one!!

Can I just pick your brains....

The temperature stayed at 90 on the move but did creep up in traffic, on the move it steadied back to 90 again.

Oil pressure was steady at 50 throughout, again how does this look?

Had the car on a ramp and chassis looks good.

Does your radiator fan switch on when the temperature goes up? At the temperatures we have right now, the radiator will get enough cooling without the fan running as long as you keep the speed up, but it needs the fan when stationary. The otter switch or the wiring to the fan regularly fail on these cars, so check these first.

Leave it standing with the engine running - the fan should cut in and out.

Thats exactly what mine does, and Ive never had any overheating problems.

Mine too. Never had a problem. Fan cuts in at about 95.

Great, looks good news then.

That sound is dangerous for potential TVR buyers-when he floored it I was figuring how I could drive the car home the same day, then common sense kicked in. (That what happens when you bring the Mrs to look at a TVR with you!! )

oil pressure at 50 sounds OK to me... mine drops to about 30 on tickover...

my water temp is always below 90 unless in standing traffic in hot weather (I wish...) then creeps up to 90-92'ish when the fan cuts in. I also have a manual over-ride switch for the fan.

I was reluctant to post this link at first just in case I might advertise it to a potential buyer. But I guess most on this forum have an S already.

What do you think? White wasn't my 1st choice, but I liked it when I saw it!

Wasn't rapid but fast enough....and oh yeah, sounded "a bit" sporty too

Have you made the seller an offer or does he insist on running the auction till the end ?
I've sold 3 cars on ebay and have always taken an offer before the auction ended, so maybe worth a try.
I'm not going to speculate on value, but if its a good one its always worth paying a bit more.

Colour I don't think is too bad - white is the new black you know!

I think the S looks great in white! It's less likely to show any stone chips, too. Go for it!

bad points:-

Slight crazing round the lights, hood is not perfect-small rip in hardtop cover cig burn size. A few stone chips and marks in paint, but the white paint really hides this well. Carpets need shampooing and the leather restoring.

By the way, I dont like the dash wood effect, are there any other options that came out of the factory at blackpool?

Neither do I, Grant.

I've seen a few later cars (S3 or V8S) with this style of dash but covered in ambla to match the seats. They look much better to me.

white looks cool, you will have months to sort out these little bits, in the meantime you can enjoy a weekly/daily blast !

You could also do as I've done which is spray the dash and switch panel the same color as the car, in my case 'curaton green', which isn't to bad as it's a dark color, but White might be a bit to bright.

Incidentally I've got the ally dash also and I think it suits the car perfectly (although I know others disagree!).
