Relocate fuel pump.
Discussion
I have a motor sport fuel pump upgrade, but as is commonly known it is bloody noisy. It doesn't help that it's enclosed in it's own little amplifier (rear wing). This makes it very noisy in the cabin and I am now bored with it.
Cooling is also an issue as it gets even louder when hot.
So I am going to re-locate under the clam somewhere.
Has anybody already done this? If so where did you put it and have you got any pictures?
This will give me the opportunity to run the pipework using decent fittings and not just bending the flex as it is as standard.
Thanks Andy

some race cars run 2 fuel pumps
Put the old one back in its place and then use it to feed the new pump - you could even put it under the front clam if your fuel lines were long enough !
you can run quite a lot of fuel pressure, some wrc cars run over 100 psi
the second pump takes the strain off the first pump and is fed with pressurised fuel so it doesn't have to work so hard !

Why run a motorsport pump at all? Put the original back on and check the fueling. It seems to be that the upgraded wiring to the pump is a sufficient mod without the extra pumping powerPut the old one back in its place and then use it to feed the new pump - you could even put it under the front clam if your fuel lines were long enough !

ajg, that's very interesting.
Does anyone else have an opion with this. I do have the Roush exhaust and am given to believe that the upgraded pump is necessary to maintain needed pressure.
I am developing over 380horse, so is that in geopardy if I swap back?
I am sure there ahve been a few cars that have been mapped at high BHP without the upgraded pump. Agree that the M400 one is gonna be well up for the job of handling 380 tho Does anyone else have an opion with this. I know with my Fiat Coupe it was aloways thought a motorsport pump was required, when in reality all they needed was a good 13-14v supply from the battery.joust said:

Use the M400 pump instead - it's quieter and good for cars up to 400bhp (oddly enough)
Err. My M400 ran 409bhp without the Roush exhaust....
As you say, perhaps worth trying to angle it and insulate before shelling out for a new pump.
