anyone work with titanium?

Depends what it is, I normally have some 1mm titanium sheet kicking about used on exhaust cans and a bit of tubing.

highly illegal, not for road use etc...

its a very limited market place, but a popular product.
cant say more, product patenting and all that.

I know of a company that makes titanium rings (inlaid with other prcious metals if you want) if you're still interested, I can get you some details?

Only prob with titanium rings is there's no wieght to them, they feel very cheap...

Jon I know of companies that do this, mainly for road cyclists (we like to have the lightest kit for everything don't you know ). I thought about it, but there's only one issue.....titanium is very hard stuff as you know. If you do any sport where you're likely to come a cropper, road or MTB biking, motorcycling, sailing etc then think very carefully. If you manage your hand and they need to get the ring off it's easy to cut through gold, but titanium is too hard for most cutters in A&E. Thus as a total worst case which is softer the titanium or your finger...yep the finger and it will come off Stick with the platinum.
