Personally, as standard, a pre-cat Griff takes some beating (and I just also happen to love the Griff shape too). Then again, most TVRs with sports exhausts sound good.

My Cerb with decats and sports exhaust frightens children and animals from 100 yards and I love it. Different noise to the V8 but definitely evil evil

The V8 Cerberas would probably be the loudest outright (out of the box) but some of the RV8s and SP6 are ridiculously loud when they've been tweaked!

10-12k should get you an absolutely stunning Chimmie and a lovely set of Slazenger clubs too hehe

only joking chapswink

It would also get you a pretty much concours condition Wedge, something like a 400/450SE would fetch just under that kind of money

Also take a look at Griffs too as you can nab a good precat for under your budget yes

If you want pops and bangs then it has to be a Cerb, but, IMHO, you'd be better off buying (and running!!) a lesser TVR as your first one/considering your age/experience.

I hadnt thought about wedges (my first Tiv was a 350i) and they sound the canine's undercarriage smile

you are better off going for a rover v8 car first (chim/griff/wedge or V8s) they also sound similar in terms of how loud they are and you can also do things to the exhaust to make them louder. I had a v6 S2 and it was louder thatn my mates standard tuscan, but not as loud as his fist chim. my cerbera is quieter than all of those (hence the usernamehehe) wont you agree Fubar?

All tvrs are very loud, just get something you will afford to run (earlier tivs) before you take the plunge for an AJP or SP6 car

A Cerb is a very expensive car to run , get a Tvr you can easily afford or you will be disappointed .

Perhaps the OP has enough disposable income to not have to worry about that? If he has, he'd be better getting the TVR he wants to avoid being disappointed?

I just started a 45k per year job, but do not have savings. thus I dont mind running costs.

AFAIK, not many tvr's are cheap to run..

Thinking of putting mine up for about the £10k mark. But only if I can go for a certain SEAC that's for sale at the mo. There's a couple of vids on my profile if you want to hear it. thumbup

its quite simple really IMO, if you want noise get an RV8 (great stepping stone into Tiv ownership too) or even better a good pre cat!
as said before there are some fairly innexpensive mods available for standard Chim/Griff 500 exhausts that release more luverly gurgly, poppy, bangy noises, but if you can find a good 4.0/4.3 Griff have a go in one, the best sounding TVR i've been in so far was a 4.3 pre cat Griff! earscloud9

Wedges are also plenty loud enough , and cheaper then Griff's , my 390 was 125db's and was £5500 , and very reliable .

Ah-ha I am hoping to look at this car at the weekend providing my car sale goes according to plan.
I've been in touch with Philip and he seems a decent chap.

Any previous owners on here care to pm me the heads up/lowdown.

Cheers fellas, and looking forward to making a noise in some tunnels soon! wink
