Can't believe it, but stuffed the Griff through a hedge this afternoon. frownfrownfrown

It was on a fairly straight, dry stretch of 'B' road near Ashington.
Travelling at about 50mph when there was a big thud from the front near side, felt like I'd hit something, the car lurched left and bounced off of the kerb, the back end came round, thought I'd manage to catch it, but too much lock sent me the other way and through a hedge, finished up parked in a field.

Thankfully I got out without so much as a scratch, but my P& J....................

well it don't look preety, lots of scuffs and scratches, one mirror and front light missing and a nasty crack just below the light pod.

I need a hug.

Glad you're OK, the car will only need time and money.

From your description of the damage it doesn't sounds as if the trip through the hedge has done any catastrophic damage, so hopefully you will be able to find out whether there was a mechanical failure beforehand. Hard to guess what might have caused it, but perhaps lower balljoint failure?

Have you checked the road to discover what caused the thump?
If it was a missing drain cover / general disrepair you might be able to "have a word" with the council roads dept?

A good friend of mine hit a pot-hole on the way into Edinburgh which resulted in a new tyre (maybe even a new wheel?). Anyway, a stern letter to the council resulted in them picking up the bill.

Has to be worth a try!

At least you are ok. The damage sounds 'bearable', if unwanted. Hope the council/insurance are good to you.

"Ditch seeking missiles", indeed, as my Fer FIAT- owning mate used to remind me.

Well, Phil said it's a bummer, rather you than me, duckie. Pleased to know its only the pride dented and hope it is up and running very soon. It would be good for all of us on here to know what caused this to happen, as we know, you know your car. So what was it do you think? Regards, Kim.

Cheers for the response guys, I did check the road and the verge, no potholes, missing drain covers, or bits of dead animal. Bit of a mystery, couldn't see any suspension damage either, but will no more in a few days when assessors have looked at it.

Yes Mark, it was me wavey and about 2mins before hedge/griffith incident.

Cheers,

Derek.
