Following the success of Dorset Dawdle and Dorset Dawdles Too and Tree, Bob the Planner has decided to let someone else take the lead for the next one. So here is the route for the first Somerset Saunter.

OK, I know, lots of it is still in Dorset, but it does start north of the border.

Date is Sunday 10th August starting at 10:00 with some of Cartgate’s finest bacon butties. Then it’s off for about 100 miles of the Westcountry’s finest. Some great open roads, a few good lanes, a decent pub for lunch and a final leg that takes in the Beaminster tunnel (mmmm – Tuscans in a tunnel ) and the excellent Winyard’s Gap hill.

Hope to see the DD regulars along, and a few of the more northern based PHers as well. Should be a great run.

Edited to add a legible map.

I will be there. I will suggest it to a few of the Dorset locals and see if they are interested.

Mmmm - Henstridge with open top - reverberations better than Petworth !

Add me too - if I'm not too dizzy after the PH Caterham day the day before.

Bob, did you know it is the day after Bruntingthorpe Mania ?

Those who went last year certainly won't want to miss out this year as they are promising the same formulae but runway thrashes all day plus lots of other new feature.

Mania will be a very very long day out and I for one will be uterly knackered and hoping for a lie in.

No I had not considered that. I suggested a couple of dates to John, I did think about Dorset TVRCC on 1st Sunday and Bristol on 3rd and the bank holiday being the 4th, but as I am not going to Bruntingthorpe did not think about it. It will always clash with something.

Perhaps you can make DD4 in September (route planning under way).

Fairy Snuff.
It's just that I've heard some tantilising snippets of what is hoping to be offered and I suspect that once details get published you may find most red blooded TVR drivers wanting to head North.

Now added to the PH calendar. You can sign up at Somerset Saunter

Yertis - TR6 would be great as well. Don't suppose you can bring them both?

Ohhh. I would have loved to have come along but it appears there's a clash with Pie On The Beach II...

I suppose there are only so many Sundays in the Summer and things are bound to happen at the same time. If anyone finished the Somerset Saunter and fancies joining a few more at the Beach then unless arrangements change we'll be at Hayling Island enjoying the sunshine and the seaside...

Considered it but 320 mls in a day and not getting to the beach until 5-ish I don't think would work
