Hi Tom
This year my car had a part body lift to replace the outriggers. I didn't do it myself ~ the local garage did. As they hadn't done it before I researched it a fair bit.
These links proved useful:
http://www.tvrs3.co.uk/ follow links on "body off pages"
http://tvrs2-car.co.uk/bodyoffpreps.aspx

Best of luck!

Hello TJC46,

Well..uhh..where to start. There is a lot to say about this subject.
There is roughly (i think)
-"what to disconnect"
-"fueltank removal" (before lift or after)
-"where are all the bolts"
-"how to remove the bonnet"
-"how to lift" (eight guys/hoisting/how to)
-"What to do with the body in the meantime"
-"What to replace while you're at it"
-"cutting out old parts"
-"what metal to use"
-"what measurements to take/how accurate do you want it"
-"chassis inside treatment for future rustprevention"
-"painting or chassis outside treatment"
-etc

I found two summaries in haynes style before I started the body-off
That was very helpfull. I think It where these: http://www.tvrs3series.co.uk/html/my_body_lift.htm...
http://tvrs2-car.co.uk/bodyoff.aspx

Hope this helps, and provides a start.

Cheers.

Many thanks to one and all,you get never get enough help and advice. Will keep you all posted over the winter months as to how i get on.This so called summer has been my first experience of driving a TVR and it was fantastic. Nothing prepares you for sheer noise and joy as you accelerate thru the gears, hence my willingness to attempt the body lift /outrigger job this winter. So next summer safe in the knowledge of a rot free chassis beneath me, i can really give it some hammer. I cant wait.

I've (we've) just put the body back on my V8S, MOT last Friday. The body is heavier than it looks - we coped reasonably well with 8 of us. The body had to come off due to MOT failure due to bits of rusty chassis. I've got a few photos that might be of interest to you and a couple of stories. It took 6 weeks from start to finish, mostly over weekends, 5 or 6 full days and a few late nights. Once you get started it does become difficult to decied how far to go. I was limited by funds and timescale which helped draw a line under things. I have a good friend who took care of all the welding, painting and electricals which was invaluable. If you want a more detailed breakdown drop me an email. I too took advice from the previously mentioned sites (links) which was really helpful - but on my car there were 17 bolts securing the body to the chassis; x2 in each footwell, x2 under centre console/radio, x2 seatbelt anchor bolts (one either side of seat), x1 to bolt seatbelt reel through to angled mount in front of rear wheel, x1 underneath carpet below seatbelt reel (hidden by small horizontal piece of carpet), x1 under carpet on opposite side to seatbelt reel and one in the boot, through the fuel tank cradle.
