Having had a complete suspension rebuild on the 3000S (thanks Adrian, great job by the way) I thought I might switch from the Wolfraces that are on the car to a set of refurbed T-slots.

Trouble is, I can decide what Party to vote for, or what colour shoes to wear tomorrow, but darned if I can figure which wheels to use ?

The Wolfies have always been on the car and are therefore “original”, I did see some on a sort of Ford Camper-Van thingy a few months ago and thought “Oh my God, it’s come to that”. The first TVR I had (1978 Taimar, from new) had T-slots and I kinda love them because they are TVR-specific, and my refurbed / diamond-cut ones look a treat.

There’s no real difference in the tyres (newish), Michelins on the T-slots, and Fulda’s on the Wolfraces, so what to do ? One set must go as they say ! (I'll try and upload some pics if I can figure the Photobucket stuff).

Peter

It's a dilemna

The T-slots are TVR specific, but the Wolfraces were an optional extra (from new) and very period. Me I'd go with the wolfies only because they are easier to clean!

Put the T Slots on and give me the Wolfies, save me having to get mine re-furbished.
Personally I would go for the Wolfies.

T-Slots, T-Slots, T-Slots, T-Slots, T-Slots, T-Slots, T-Slots, T-Slots,

If you have the budget, why not have both and swap them over from time to time, it'll confuse everyone.

Or maybe put T-slots on one side and Wolfies on the other, and drive around for a bit until I've decided ? (oops probably not a good idea with different tread patterns..)

Oldest trick in the book, they used to do it in War movies whereby they painted the aircraft different colours each side, so it looked as if they had twice as many for the take-off shots. Apparently it works with racehorses too.

T-slots. I don't like wheels where there are large spaces between the spokes where you can see the hub etc behind. I think T-slots are more understated looking, more classical, whereas Wolfies look a bit 'max power'.

You learn something new everyday. It's a bit like using mirrors to make a line of 100 soldiers look like 200.

Just an aside, in 1999 I had a new Saab 9-3, shortly after I bought it the front number plate got mashed in a badget strike. The dealer made-up a new plate. At least 9 months later I noticed that one digit was wrong, no-one had spotted it, now that's a way to confuse trafic wardens and defeat average-speed cameras ???

OK it's fat-finger syndrome. A "badget" is a badger, and traffic has two "f"s, a bit like some governments.

I used to work for a Motor Factor, for a laugh one Friday afternoon a number plate was stuck on the front of the Managers car that read "GAY BOY", there was no attempt to make it look genuine either. He rolled up Monday morning with it still in place and he had driven from East Yorkshire to London and back to visit his daughter over the weekend and nobody had spotted it.

OK, what a great straw poll that was (thanks chaps for opinions, on PH and off via my profile).

Allowing for originality, aesthetics, butch-factor (I can’t think of a better more printable epithet), brake cooling, rolling diameter [good one, I hadn’t considered that slightly fatter tyres might give more ground clearance], and ease of cleaning/maintenance….. and since I can’t justify keeping 2 sets….. the die is cast, and the T-slots go on PH classifieds and Ebay tonight.

Hmm, so much for Ebay, lots of hits and Watchers, but the reserve wasn't reached, so let me know if anyone wants a nice set of refurbed T-slots............

I agree with Col G, it really should be T slots. You're lucky they didn't sell on ebay, it will give you time to realise your mistake - then wack them back on - stand back and appreciate what a proper M should look like! - The B******s

I'll second that. Would be keen if straight forward to collect and didn't involve shipping to NZ!

Keep em!

Of course I could bring them with me as excess baggage when I emigrate to NZ (I wish).
Lovely looking car you have, if the T-slots don't reach the reseve on my current Ebay auction then I may end up keeping both sets of wheels.

Thanks Not a Nutter from Crazy Red Man. Has a long list of small things to tidy but nothing too major. The body was off 11 years ago for a tickle.

If you do make it over for a holiday be sure to look me up etc.
