Fellow South Wester Simon (sgrimshaw) is looking at supercharging his 99 400 and has asked a couple of questions here... http://www.tvr-car-club.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.as...

The car looks well cared for but it was written off only two years after it was purchased therefore a lot of damage to total it at this age.

Does a charger put a lot of stress through the chassis? Should it be checked out prior to fitment?

Ta in advance.

Doubt it, if there's to much power the tyres will break traction. Chassis will be fine. You could plumbline it if seriously concerned.

Go for it. Without wanting to offend anyone's sensibilities, the things are so variable and 'flexible' anway what difference is a litle impact damage going to make over a 'typical' example? Work with what you've got smile

Corin,

The chassis is perfect thank you.

It actually doesn't take that much damage to write off a nearly new car, especially a fibreglass one.

How's your engine these days, it was making a really horrid noise after the donuts at Rockingham - all fixed now?

Simon

Hi Simon wavey Yep engine's fine, new manifold gasket and fitting spring washers to the ARP bolts sorted that ticking noise.

I see what you mean about the write off, I suppose your Chim must have been worth about £26k in 2001 so damage totalling more than £13,000 would get the box ticked.

Still, a lot of damgage that, do you have any photos?

Glad she's all better now, Corin.

I know what the damage was to mine, but haven't seen any photos.

I'm not sure I'd want to see the photos really ..... with f/g it always looks really bad!

You don't happen to know where I can get some, if I did, do you?

Simon

What, fibreglass????

To be honest you'll probably find that if gets hit bad enough again the insurance company would just pay you out the £4-5k value for your car rather than repair.

Good excuse to thumb through the classifieds then. biggrin
