I know of a 13.9 sec G40 turbo coupe - I personally have never come across a faster car.

There are a couple of mid engined cars around, a black 6N with a BAM where the back seats used to be and a '78 Derby I had a hand in building with a 9A in the back, currently in hibernation awaiting forced induction. I don't know what times either have/will run but traction will probably be a serious issue in either case.

I have the black rear engined 6N and I have currently run a 11.97 1/4 mile .

I was just wondering if there was anything faster I could set my sights on.

The G40 cup racers would be the quickest, but they're nearly extinct now frown

Yikes, that's shifting a bit! Is it hard to get off the line? What sort of tyres do you use?

It is ok getting off the line with the engine being over the driven wheels. Its when you hit full boost in 2nd it gets exciting ! The 11.97 ws with yoko road tyres and a std diff. I have my last race of the year and I have now had a peloquin diff fitted and am running B F Goodrich g force drag radials.

I know of 1 MK3 86c with a rear engined 1.8t. Not sure what the 1/4 mile times were, but FQ was used to describe.
I thought that mine was OK at 14.98.

DOH!
In that case, it isn't a 6N. The 6N is known as the MK4 built 1994-1999ish. Thats what confused me. Yours is an 86C(like mine)
I spoke to the guy, who told me that it was an absolute pig to drive quickly on the road. I really want that car! I hate you!!wink
I hope you're gonna attend shows in that one! I look forward to hounding you!

It can be a pig on the road to drive quickly especially if you have the suspension set up for the drag strip or the road is bumpy but its not the bad.
I will be hopefully be at the pod sometime next year so come and say hello.

Not quite the same level, but on topic...

I just noticed the latest polo GTI's now have the 1.8T audi engine. Although detuned to a mere 150 these are commonly used at 225 in S3 & TT variants. Plus those are only a tweek away from 300bhp. So, how much money would be involved to turn the new polo GTI into: a) 225bhp, b) 300bhp?

Not a great deal would be my guess...

But then you want new brakes, suspension etc etc

It is that same for any forced induction car really you can do it really cheaply by turning up boost etc or you can do it right and spend a bit more and do it the right way .
