Nooooo!

Delete it from your hard drive now, before it takes over your life!!

If it's the kind of game you enjoy, it will swallow up as much free time as you make available to it. I played it for a while a few summers back, after finishing one job but before starting the new one, and I lost days at a time to it. I had to go cold turkey once I was back in gainful employment as there just wasn't the spare time to devote to it that it needed, if you were going to play "properly".

Played it once, got into it, failed Uni modules because of it. Gave up and have never got back in, I just know it will do it again.

What they said. Played the demo a couple of times and knew I would lose my life to it...

The amazing thing about that trailer is that it could have been made with the in-game graphics. lick

My last character... managed to get together about 50m isk in a week by doing the right missions. Decided it was too addictive and bought a couple of cruisers, kitted them out and gave them to newbies. thumbup

Saw me in Rookie or saw me in space? smile If you're flying around Crux/Essence and need a hand with a mission or something, give a me a punt and I'll come help out.

Might be a Tristan, but it's kicking Destroyers all over the shop smile

Tip: Remember to always have a skill being learnt. Plan the skill learning so that it coincides with your time off. Eg if you're playing for an hour, learn a skill that takes an hour to learn then learn a longer one over night. You can interrupt and come back to skills to continue learning the level later. eg if you learn a 4 hour skill, then play again after 2 hours, interrupt that skill and put on a basic skill, then resume the 4 hour skill when you go away, or maybe put an 8 hour one on if you're not returning in the remaining 2 hours. rotate

ps I see they still haven't fixed this PHLag.

True.

Some more tips: Before running through low sec space (0.4 and under) yoink up the map and check for "ships destroyed in the last hour". It only shows PvP kills not NPC... and is a good indication of a gate camping team.

If you're in low sec space and see a black Tristan or such that's ambling along, leave it the hell alone; it's a Tech 2 ship, either an Interceptor or Stealth Bomber... it can screw over a Battleship if it really wants to.

In previous incarnations the Tractor beam was a god send for pulling in jet cans of NPC's, now it's the salvager, it should be, on your list of things to do in the beginning.

Learning skills (the actual ones classified as Learning) should be a high priority, yes it's boring training stuff that doesn't help you kill things or mine faster or whatever; but they reduce the amount of time it takes to learn other stuff. So long term investment.

The best class of ship to get after you've mastered a Frigate is a Destroyer. It takes a frigates fittings, still gives bonuses to frigate gear AND you won't slam in to a brick wall when you jump in to a Cruiser and find that you can shoot for toffee due to a major skills shortage.

If you see a red flashy Thorax cruiser barrelling towards you... RUN! It's a 'Blasterrax' build and can't fight at long range, if it's outside of 10KM it can't web/scam you and it's guns won't reach smile It's drones however... will. So LEG IT, unless you're in an equally tough ship.

Yes, a Battleship can shoot 70KM. Some clever people have spotters and can shoot 100KM+.

Heavy drones (and T2 drones) can... and will... screw over a Battleship; drones are vicious little swines and much more useful than missiles. If you're ship has an empty drone bay.... you're missing a trick.

If you're having problems with a mission go to http://eve.grismar.net/rats/index.php and type in the rough name of what you're fighting. It will show the various weaknesses of the NPC's. You want to be dealing as much of that/those types of damage as possible, via either guns, missiles or drones (preferably all three to be honest but... rails can't do Explosive or EM damage).

Right - I've been in and out of this for a bit and have decided to stay in.

I've made a few characters and killed them off as I try various races and trades etc. Finally have found a combination that I like and seem to be able to fly fairly well. Here are a couple of screen-shots to give an idea of what the game's like (Also have recently got a new PC so it looks utterly stunning at 1600*1024.)

There's a certain sense of scale in the second picture but then I've not yet encountered any of the behemoth ships out in the depths of (0.8) space!

Me pootling around in my little Kestrel...

Brilliant Game!

<looks at pictures> Ahh, he's in a kessie, with none specific loadout; I'd wager he's got more on his plate in a mission than hitting prtscn biggrin

Bloody Caldari scum. hehe

confused

Now I know I'm new at this but this ship is by far and away the best I've had in combat. It's stand off abilities mean I don't have to get up close and personal with the (admittedly fairly weak) swarms that I've had to deal with so far.

However as I'm not daft I will ask if you have any hints and tips!

If anyone needs a little help in game then look up 'Orb Enterprises'.

In game channel 'Orb' has plenty of free advise too (go to channels and click creat/join and type in 'orb').

We can build most ships and are about to enter the 'capita' phase of things.

I managed to get some interesting photos mid-battle... had time to rotate and get the right angles. My only problem was blowing up the enemy before I'd set the shot up correctly. hehe (Tip: get big guns that knock out enemy ships in one or two hits.)
