OK - so it's seems the garlic eating retreat merchants
really had it in for the good old brit visiting Le Mans
this year ...
What was quite acceptable in prior years now ..

So - what can us poor old brits do next year
and no - driving like a numpty there and back is not
an option.
Someone on here was right - we should not have given it back in 1944 !

Me and the lads went through France like a hot knife throught butter, leaving Dieppe c. 10.30 am Thurs morn. Saw one gendarme all the way and he was busy breaking up an impromptu strike/roadblock near Gace.
Same business all the way home. Glorious roads, glorious speeds. And so onto Blighty. Good to be home...my arse. M25, M1 north was one of the shitest drives I have ever experienced and I'm a professional motorway cruncher..and to cap it all off, a mere 5 miles from home on the last leg from Chesterfield to Stockport, got video'd by a sneaky pig in a white van parked in a layby - expecting to go to court for that one.
Give me the Gendarmes anyday. If we tried to repeat our Friday Le Mans games at any UK race meeting the mounted riot police would be called in and we would all still be in the clink.
Au revior..next year I will mostly be driving to Le Mans from my home in Normandy.

Same same - other than the million or in the immediate Le Mans area, we saw zero Frog-cops from Caen to Le Mans & back. We drove down late-ish Friday (arrived Le Mans about 8.30pm i think) & left pretty late, 9.30ish i think, on Sunday. Maybe they just couldn't catch up!
Same here too. 171 towards Rouen on the Wednesday, much overtaking on the Thursday to Le Mans, although did see a 964 RS and Maserati Spyder pulled over by a cop in the hard shoulder. More nonsense on the return trip (Sunday late morning) including overtaking a new M3 which was overtaking some other Brits at 150 on the N138 and a duel with a Tuscan S for most of the way back.

FYI any given french person will take the two finger sign for you having just taken them out of your nose.
In french you may raise only one finger if you want to be sure of the effect.

Had a good trip to Loiere then up to le manns approching Anjou-maine a very well dressed man on a blue moterbike forced me to stop and demanded money or he would take my griff 500 off me. Well you dont carry 750e on you so he took my licance off me and took me to the conveoient bank. Now broke I went on to the race.
I now will not buy any french goods and they can all go to hel+++ . Please support this action as we are just a sorce of revinue.

Fantastic drive down from Cherbourg Friday AM and back again Monday PM. Hardly saw a Gendarme until......
Overtaking a long line of slow-moving traffic uphill, 'accidently' did some of the overtaking on a continuous white line, right in front of an unmarked plod clio. Got pulled, got let-off!

Thom FYI we English have had many a dust up with said Frenchies and many, many years ago when we had the best long bow archers in the world just before battle our archers would raise two fingers (the two fingers which drew the bow) as a gesture that they were about to kill.But if any of our guys were caught then the French would cut off the said two fingers and thus render the bowman useless.The French KNOW exactly what an Englishman means when raising the V sign.Cheers.
Now let's see if I've got it right...
Several thousand tourists are going to come over, with the pre-declared intent of givin' it large and consuming as much alcohol as possible and all in the same place. They come at the same time every year (even the dumbest cop could be ready given 12 months notice
). Every year they publish stories about the speeds they get, so local BiB have been sh@t on from a great height to get it under control. Unfortunately a few get caught at speeds that would have Madcop calling out the SAS as back-up with live rounds. Given the circumstances I wouldn't expect a rational reaction to any moving traffic offence.
Lets transfer the race to Donnington. I'd reckon that after one year, the Blairite establishment would look at all the police reports of 2 and 3xNSL offences and ban ALL future races. They'd probably introduce legislation for mandatory GPS based speed restrictors for every vehicle so fast that you'd even vote for Hitlery Clinton to get the DoD to turn the system off.

fcuk me I must have been wound up..typing faster than the brain can think.Oh bloody behave yourselves. What are you doing whining for getting a fine for doing 160 in an 80? Wind your necks in. We were all warned (on here) before we went that the French Police were going to crack down on speeds this year. As far as I can tell, not many (if anyone) were done for doing a bit over the limit - and if they were, it was 90Euros and no points, compare that with home.
FWIW, I think that the whole event was very sensitively policed. How many people were there (hundreds of thousands), and there was no trouble, minor speeding was overlooked, and the only people I saw pulled for burnouts were those who were stupid enough to do it under a uniformed nose. Maybe some of the police lacked a sense of humour, but mostly they just ignored us.
I for one won't be giving anyone the finger just because they're French.

The best 900 miles I've ever driven, we didn't go mad, perhaps up to 140-150kph when 130 was allowed, as I'd heard 40kph over caused trouble.
However, it would appear that they go after the owners of the Exotica who's owners (they think) can stump up the fine.
