A guy at work has 4, yes 4! VW T25 campers. I had a chat with him today and mentioned i'm after another winter project. He said i was welcome to one of his campers free of charge. The one he said was best has a fully working engine although some problems with brakes. Interior is completely stripped.

I'm looking at this as a blank canvas to make unique and sell on but wondered if any one has any "look out for this" comments that could help me out.

Its F reg, fair bit of rust, I'm always fixing cars so mechanically minded, i can weld as well. I just dont want to throw money at this thing if there is no market. Have done some googling but can't find any good forums about T25, mostly splitters.

Thanks

I'd jump at the opportunity thumbup

There was a thread on here (somewhere) a few months ago, where someone was talking about customising one inside.

An honest no-brainer IMHO, with so much scope!

And then when it's done - the worlds your oyster (figuratively at least).

T25s are incredibly cool, IMHO.

Saw a load of bay and T25 campers down Oxwich bay a few weeks back.

The T25s stood out - a nice pastel colour with chunky alloys is the way to go.

There was a programme on discovery recently when they followed the progress of a gentleman that was restoring a Camper. Quite impressive the amount of work he had to put in. I think he had the shell "dipped" so that it took off all the paint/rust/filler and left him with a bare shell.

Try www.thesamba.com

Loads of US stuff on there but plenty of UK to give you an idea.

If I had a stripped out VW van I'd see it as the opportunity to build a truly unique project.

I think I'd go for a rock 'n' roll van. Iron Maiden-style mural on the side, wall of Marshalls, beer fridge and shagpile carpet on the inside. Needs billet-alloy wheels, chain-link steering wheel and skull gear lever to complete the look. Take it round some festivals - perfect.

Go for it, those things are collectable these days. I remember doing one up with a mate 25 years ago, cost us £300. Prices now for these are mad.

Get it, pop a 993 Turbo engine in there, bob's your uncle.

Edited to add, if you do this some brakes and suspension work might not be a bad plan hehe

hi gents ta again for replies, its funny theres a few petrol heads at work and all your suggestions have already been thrown around by them, some said a porsche 944? engine in it with golf VR6 brakes etc etc etc list goes on.

I'll take some pics on my phone at work tomorrow and post them up tomorrow night. You will have to realise tho its a long term project and is in very bad condition but as has been said, a blank canvas maybe and maybe even a deposit on a house in a years time.....heres hoping.

Watch this space for photos tomorrow

Thanks for websites btw that brick-yard looks great.

I miss my camper frown

Have a wander over to http://www.justkampers.co.uk/interactive/kampercha...

There is a company near Ipswich that does Subaru engine conversions.

I have one smile1982 "Devon" conversion pretty much bog standard with a 2.0ltr aircooled. The big thing to watch on them is rust but parts are plentiful and not too expensive the fact that you can weld etc is ideal.

Have a look on here....http://www.club80-90.co.uk/
Good bunch on there and plenty of technical knowledge on the T25 thumbup

Nah put an R32 engine in it or a Audi 4.2
