[quote=manek]Yup, good time was had, the weather was fab and the old cars were great. They included Cooper F1 cars -- what an F1 car is supposed to look like...
Rubbish ... the Maserati 250F is what an F1 car is supposed to look like. The Cooper has the engine in the wrong place.
What an oustanding weekend though. Superb racing, great cars (anybody see the Mclaren F1 in the paddock?)especially nice to see seven ERAs and having them all actually run.
The Formula One Ferraris were mindblowing - 58 second (122 mph ish laps).
Roll on Goodwood .....

Dont agree about the Coopers, I have a soft spot for them! Mazza 250F is a beauty though.
Saw the Mclaren F1 in the paddock, was parked next to the Historic Ferrari F1 team, got a snap of that one.
I took some video footage of the F1 cars, bloody hell, the sound is absolutly incredible.
Did not see many TVR's in the car park though. Saw one blue Cerbera with Tuscan alloys in the infield and followed a green Griffith into the circuit. No PH stickers though.
Also saw a nice GTD 40 replica thing. Wow, they are nice
I went on the saturday and it was fantastic. the atmosphere was great - as the 6 Ferrari F1 cars went round the whole crowd swooned. They were trying too as one span at Goddards.
There was some unbelievable cars there - Type 35 Bugatti, 250GTO, Mac F1, Integrale (mine ), 27 litre Bentleys. was speaking to a guy with a 1933 Riley (or something) and he said the crank went last week - said he couldn't moan as it was the original - 70 year old crankshaft! a replacement was £3k
Some of the races looked a bit "whacky races" but the noise was truly awesome.
Don't get me started on the Daytona's else i'll fill up - again!

I'm a member of the VSCC, but didn't go to Donington, I was instead at Castle Combe with the TVR/GTs.
Did any of you guys see any Pre War or even any 1920's cars?
Yep ... there were ERA's (seven of them), Maserati 6CM's, Frazer Nashes, Bugattis (Type 35 and Type 51), M.G.'s (including a very rare Q Type), Alfa 6C-1750s, Brooklands Rileys and lots of Bentleys along with the usual selection of VSCC specials. Excellent entry overall I thought - better than either Silverstone meet this year.
Going to Prescott in August?

Would agree with the above. One of the best VSCC meets I have ever been to
I thought the 27 litre Bentley was a misprint!
Did not see it in the paddock though?
I think he meant Robin Bakers 27 litre Hispano engined Delage (the Napier Bentley was not there, and its only 24 litres anyway). It was down the end of the paddock as far from the ferrari bit as you could get.

Damm, must have missed it. Maybe its too quiet
The 24 litre Napier is one of the best sounding cars out there, roars under power and chuggs on over-run.........

I saw the McLaren, , and met Ray Bellm, racing legend and all round top bloke. Was great to see some turbo F1 cars on track, and the guy in the 1995 Ferrari was properly going for it!
Yep! Got a movie clip of him coming round the old hairpin and caining past one of the slower F1 cars (not sure which one).
Good stuff
