I heard of a number of incidents on Expo where the local pikies were rifling through people's tents/cars at night pilfering whatever they could find. One of our group had his wallet nicked. In their infinite wisdom the "security" guards decided not to work on Sunday night - not that they were much cop when they were working. Anyone else have any bad experiences with the thieving gypsy barstewards.

We had 'em round on the Monday pilfering whatever they could, one old couple had their estate crammed with a pile of rubbish with a small poodle sitting on top, can't imagine anyone throwing that away.

We lost a couple of Bently umbrellas but that could've been because we left them on the roof of the wagon when we drove off!

Oh, and the beer pixies stole all my money as well.

They wandered through our campsite at around 2am on Sat/Sun morning. Wondered what they were up to, and thought they were just another group of campers wandering to their tents. Didn't recognise them tho (not that you necessarily would), but found out later that morning that my mate had his camera stolen (nice 800quid SLR jobby) from outside his tent (under one of our marquees). Was silly of him to leave it there admittedly, but still feckin rude.

A bit worrying that they are now coming around during the actual race w/end I've never heard of anyone having anything nicked in 8 years of going.

I've always wondered what the Monday pikies do with all the old cr*p they collect. Last year they cheerfully had our old frankfurters, milk, and cheese that had been languishing at 90 degrees for 4 days!

Do they eat it, or give it to their pigs?

I just relaxed with a few beers with a BBQ watching them drive around and digging through the piles of rubbish (including one which had our rank 4 day old sausages in them ).

I thought it was quite sad. Some security guys came around a few times to check things out. The pikeys didn't seem to do anything bad - maybe it was because we were there looking at them. I wouldn't leave any valuables in the tent anyway - that included the beer!

They came around expo on monday morning. just carried off our gas BBQ !. I spotted it but since we had left food on it for 2 days and it was practically ready to walk by itself, decided to let them have it.
They tried to take our Gazebo, so I jumped on it, bending every poll, and slashed the fabric.. feckin pikeys

Leaving Houx at 1200ish Monday and one of them was working out how to remove a still full large rigid paddling pool abandoned next to our tent - the cheeky chappy only asked me if I had 5 minutes to spare to give him a hand. I just laughed at him and said "you're having a ****ing giraffe".

Yep - 'the dust cap pikeys' took all of my nice shine chrome caps & sleeves during the day on Sat! Thought I'd come back and find the Tiv up on bricks after that but luckily not!!
They're obviously no great value but just fcuking annoying.
A minor blemish on a great weekend

On Sunday eveninng they parked on the road by our camping area and started loading our chairs into their car. Luckily the only person who got back to our campsite first happened to be the nutter, and he caught them doing it. He chased them back to their car and managed to get a few big kicks into to it (smashing through the grill at least) as they were revesing away.
Everything we left behind we smashed first.

I like the idea of the bottle of whiskey. Perhaps we should all leave them similar "gifts" next year!

we left a tent for the people who we kept up all night (next to us) plus a gazebo, BBQ, one of us stayed behind but apparently they just started dismantling it right there and then. although wish we'd left that cooler with the 4 day old meat in it!
ummmm here pikey's have a munch on that.

The swines had our radio on Saturday night, while one of our party was sleeping right next to it!

Still, we left them a few surprises, like the garden hose that would be good as a irrigation device....

A can of beer! That's really taking the pith - my condolences.
