Hi Guys
im not an Ultima owner but am friends and have met a few of you.
my build is a Minotaur www.minotaurkitcar.co.uk anyways I bought a G64 gearbox from Clive through Andy GTT the question i have is does anyone see a prob converting this to 2wd serial no g64003l07394 i believe its a porsche 964 year 1990 ,awd i have stripped the top end of the box down so i could check the main gears as i found a broken tooth , everything is good and the tooth came from the front wheel drive part of the box.
the confusion i have is that the shaft that turns the diff is inside the main gearbox shaft if that makes sence so when i turn the diff crown gear it doesnt turn the box. im very confused and am going to have to reassemble the whole box before i spend £100 on gaskets. any thoughts or help would be great

I have some more info at home regarding the gearbox.
You will probably be best getting the output shaft from a 2wd box and putting that into your box. I think the Pinion gear is attached to this shaft so it might be the perfect time to upgrade to a more suitable final drive ratio. Maybe contact some of the aftermarket gearbox parts suppliers.
The other alternative it to make a splined adaptor to join the output shaft of the box to the pinion shaft that runs concentrically through the output shaft. This is also the same arrangement as used in the Audi and Subaru 4wd boxes. I was wondering weather it would be possible to implement a “winters quick change” style rear housing to allow for fast final drive ratio changes on the box.
You can download the Porsche parts manuals of there site. I think I posted a link to it hear. There is also another link to it on the GT40’s site under the transaxles section. The manuals have exploded diagrams so you can see what is going on.
Had a quick look at your site. Really like what you have done with the windows to overcome the glass problem.
Crafty should take note of this – he was trying to work out some form of removable window for his GTR.
