How much fuel did everyone use?
Discussion
I got through 6 1/2 tanks of 98 and 5 bottles of octane booster. Tank is pretty small but still came to just under £200!!
My mates Nissan Primera Diesel used two and bit tanks in comparison.
Forgot to say we went from Cambridge and via Calais

i started out with 3/4 of a tank when i left home, filled up 5 times before getting home on 98RON and got in with just under 1/4 tank
don't know how much its gonna cost yet (am a little worried) but the were all around €36-€38 (€190 total ish) so its gonna be quite expensive
i did do 1175 miles though!!!

I used loads and loads of petrol... going to have to wait for the CC bill for the final total.
I left on Sunday night with a full tank of petrol and another 15 litres in cans. We still ran out just north west of Rouen. We ended up sleeping in a McDonalds carpark until the petrol station opened up in the morning.
... when will the French start taking other cards in their 24hr petrol machines rather than those poxy Carte Bleu things?

We almost ran out of fuel when we discovered the extreme lack of 24hr garages between Le Mans & Caen. We found a pump that took credit cards - BUT ONLY F***ING FRENCH ONES!!! Thank you Mastercard!! Fortunately some friendly French people paid for our fuel on their card in exchange for cash. I think I did 2.5 tanks from Poole-Portsmouth-Caen-LeMans and back.
Took a 5.0L V8 American Ford Minibus down. Weight when empty 2.5T. With all our kit, including 4 mopeds, BBQ etc.... about 3.5T How much fuel? Sh** Loads!! Managed to burn of an Audi S3 at the lights trying to get back, I don't think he knew what had hit him!
Other car in gang got fined eu750 for speeding at 181kmh in a 90kmh zone, Got banned as well!

Used one tank up on the way down and about half a tank on the way back, all told 480 miles on 90Euros of fuel, top value for money, why can't we have 98ron, incidentally I did drive like a saint coming back, as a result of listening to all the horror stories when I was down there,I was so pleased that i had escaped without a fine on the way down when I wasn't a saint that I took it careful.

What car were you using Simon?
Used 3 1/2 tanks, so around 175 litres, dunno about cost, figure that I've got no choice but to fill up, so no point worrying about it!
Also did the sleeping outside a petrol station trick, after linking the facts that all french 24 hours stations are automated and that they've switched to PIN entry cards - doh! Oh well, Sées was a beautiful place to start the day in
Hopefully we'll have switched to PIN cards by next year, or I'll drive somewhere near civilisation and persuade a local..

I did a North London - Kent - Dover - Calais - Le Mans and back run (did get lost a couple of times) and did nearly 1000 miles. Seem to remember filling up 5 times (250 odd litres or so - not sure how much is left in the tank though) I reckon that on the way down (France side) I managed 15.8 mpg in my Chimaera 500 (Land Rover Disco support vehicle managed 14.6mpg with the 4.0 V8 and a fully laden car).
