Would there be any reason why the two negative leads for the front speakers are "scotchlocked" together, and what is the point of the black wire coming out of the ariel lead, its going into the multiblock, but does not appear to be going anywhere on the car side of the multiblock?

Uhm, no reason but that is because I have no idea what you are talking about as I am a technical numpty but I did admire your question.

No doubt somebody more qualified than me (don't count on Griffalo) will answer your request very soon.

The two negative wires I would expect to be together if the positives were as well, running in a bridged / mono configuration (someone looking for more power at the expense of quality). Having only the negatives together is certainly an odd configuration and I don't see a lot of point for it....

As for the black lead, I would imagine that this is additional (optional) grounding that hasn't been used.
