Door release cable

I've managed to break off the hook from the end of the door release cable and consequently need a replacement. Anyone got any suggestions?

Had to replace mine recently as it had rusted.
I bought a cycle brake cable, cut it to size and used the end with the nipple to connect to the door lever, I then attached to the door lock mechanism with a clamp. You will have to remove the door lock mechanism (fairly easy) remove and attach the new cable and clamp, refit the door card and job done!

Thanks interesting idea. I wondered about a bike cable, what sort of clamp did you use?

Try an electrical connector ('chocolate block') used to join 2 wires. Thread the cable through and tighten both screws - should hold, but you can also double the cable back around and through again before tightening. Available in Halfords etc - comes in variety of sizes so you should be able to get one suitable.

Spot on...that's exactly what I used!
I did wind the cable through a number of times then fitted the block connector

Did mine at the start of the year and it's been fine since
