I got a Monster

Picked up a 2002 Monster 600 on saturday. Still slightly nervous but maybe thats a good thing. First commute this morning, half the time it takes in the car! Nearly got wiped out by at least 50 scooters who pulled out without looking at all though.

I've been catching up on a few things, post my Le Mans 2003 trip, like Carl's recent thoughts, T-C's points on road riding versus the track and it's set me thinking. I've been on the bike, commuting to work for only a few months, I love it and I hope to do it for a lot longer and I hope you enjoy the same.

What I've mainly learnt is that there's so much more to learn. I've not got any really sage advice, so I'll pass on what worked for me. A good friend told me what his instructor told him, when he first started out - NEVER be in a hurry. This has served me well so far.

Second that Filtering down the right of a row of cars on a By-pass this morning and a numpty bint decides shes not waiting in the queue and trys a U-Turn just as I'm coming past S'pose I should have been going a little slower (but I was only doing about 20-30mph) but you live and learn, don't know how she missed my back wheel, just hope it scared her as much as it scared me
Good look with the monster I can see myself on one of those in a year or two, and be carefull out there
