Strange question but i was just wondering if the m12 / m400 heater is any good?

My Vxr heater is about as much use as a chocolate fire gaurd. It goes from freezing cold to a bit warmer to mild if you're lucky setting.

You haven't experienced a Noble heater! Think of the air vents as paint stripping guns.

Generally just about good enough. If you're used to American or Japanese systems though it'll disappoint. Your press the button and it generates cold air. I'd call it cooling rather than air conditioning.

Ha ha, the mental image I have in my head is quite amusing lol

Doesn't sound like getting cold in a noble is an option

Heater is great - too hot sometimes and the installation is susceptible to hot and cold temp swings as as it moves the heat out/in meaning you need to constantly adjust the settings - no problem.

A/C is perfect. It has been called a "cutdown" version by the US Nobility. Works fine and is absolutely necessary! Also, it doesn't seem to create a drag on horsepower when operational.

Air con needs regular servicing to be cold. The system is prone to leaks around the joints near the turbo and the main compressor solid to flexible joint. Generally these require just tightening but also seal replacements aren't uncommon. Annoying is the seals themselves are pennies, the labour £10's to £100s!

When correctly adjusted it significantly affects idle as the clutch for the compressor kicks in and so takes a significant amount of power to drive it. It's a good test to see if the revs drop by 50-100 RPM when it kicks in, anything less and it's not working hard enough.

It will generate exit temps from the vents of ~5-7C and so can be classed as being "good", although compared to your BMW 'cool' setting you could be dissapointed.

On cars that don't have the idle set correct it can contribute to stalling the car, so again a good setup by a compentant service centre is generally required.

A quick test is a IR temp measurement of the exit vent. If it's >10C then you need it serviced, below 5 and let us know what your answer is!

Heater is of the blast furance mode biggrin
